Have Running Boards? Please Read...

Good day all,

Had my ML for about 2 weeks now and I've ordered running boards for it so that my 4 year old can climb in and out all by herself, which is doing it's job so far. Yesterday after a car wash I've noticed the edges of one or two of those plastic friction studs are peeling off. Anyone experienced this?

I'm gonna call the dealer and bring it in and see what they'll do about them.

We have running boards on our GLK and I assume they are similar to the ML. I have noticed over the years a "fraying" of the rubber traction pads around the edges. I've never had one peel off, though.

Yup...I can lift up the edges of those that are "peeled" off. I tried pushing them down and make it stick but the adhesive are gone. I understand in maybe a year or two things like this will start happening. But I've only had it for 2 weeks and think it's a little premature.

We had running boards on our 2007 ML and they were fine up to the day we sold it which was only 3 weeks ago. Sounds like there was some kind of defect. Our new ML is coming in next week with the running boards so I hope this is not going to be a problem.

Just called my service department and will bring it in for them to take a look on Friday (due to my busy schedule). Will report findings afterwards.

Just called my local MB dealer, & they said 2012 ML running boards won't be in until next month, & no pricing yet. Their install is 4 hrs labor, so add another $400.

You have them already?
Price?
Easy DIY install?

Thanks,

My running boards came with the ML from the factory. They have yet to tell me what they're going to do to fix my "Peeling" issue. I am bringing it in tomorrow.

Just a little update. Finally have time to bring it in today. They've ordered one for me under warranty (back order, takes about 2 weeks to get to Canada). It'll be good as new afterwards.

Doesn't sound like new was too good, though.
