2012 C350 coupe; 2013 ML350
No leather for ML? How do I confirm that?
I was told my ML cannot be built with leather...only MB Tex.
Dealer says MB has a supplier issue. It will affect E class as well.
I was told to try again in January. The dealer has to be telling the truth as just bought a C350 coupe from them and I am prepared to pay them cash.
How do I go about getting confirmation on this issue?

Leather is in very short supply on the ML until at least December production.
I don't think your payment method has any bearing on their truth-telling, but congrats.

Leather option
As others have said, appears to be true. You could consider the SO optional P95 Interior Sports Package with 601 Dinamica (synthetic suede)/MBTex seats as an alternative if you can't wait. Nicer and more comfortable than straight MBTex, IMO. It also includes the sport wheel and aluminum pedals. Costs nothing except special order fee. Black is only option, however.

Same thing happened to me. My solution was to ask my dealer's inventory manager to do nationwide search for a per-existing build slot that has leather on it, and then modify that to my other specs. Their computer system can see every ML that has been ordered, whether it be for an individual or for general lot inventory. A sales person will typically not offer this as a solution, since it's more complicated..they would just prefer you order MB-tex and be done with it. And this is because it means the dealership will have to do some 'horse trading' to get that build slot from the other dealer, i.e, trade a ML550 build slot for two ML350 build slots.
If they say they can't find one, then start calling around, working outward from your location. When you find one that can do it for you, go back to your original dealer and tell them. This is what I did, and it worked. I have build slot for an ML with leather even though it can't be ordered from scratch. MBUSA has a complete directly of dealerships.
However, I still have no guarantee my build will not be delayed due to the leather or any other shortage. But at least my odds are better for getting my ML with leather seats sooner than later.

Greg: Is this option available for the 550? I'm looking for the sportier look so if there's no leather, this option actually is better for me.

Greg: This is the exact look I wanted! I don't really like the wood trim look and prefer that aluminum look on the dashboard instead. It said that it can be included with the real leather seats as well. 
I'm gonna try to email my dealer to see if I can add this, but I highly doubt it because he told me it would be locked last week. Boo.

[2013 ML350] I would not purchase without ventilated seats (live in Las Vegas). Leather is required for that option. It was a special order for some reason? Ventilated seats are standard on Infiniti and other cars I looked at. Amazing that so many people order black and no ventilated seats in the ML350 here in Las Vegas where it can be over 110 F. for 3 months or more each year.
