I've just got 2013 ML350 a week ago and drove it for a while. I noticed sometimes I had a red triagle with the exclamation mark in the middle poped up on the dashboard with a short ping sound. It poped up just for a very short second and it went away. The car reacts normally! What's it? I have no idea what did I do wrong and why it poped up!

What were you doing when it popped up ?

Probably the Collision Prevention Assist. Search Youtube on CPA and see if it is the same triangle that lights up on the instrument cluster.

I don't remember exactly, but the latest that happened was when I drove into the curve at fast speed. Some other times, I wasn't quite sure.

It's quite similar to that, but I didn't buy that option. Mine is only Premium 1 package. There was no car in a close distance in front of me when the warning popped up as well.

That system is now standard equipment on the 2013. On the 2102 it was part of an optional package.

It is indeed the Collision Prevention Assist. Mine will occasionally light up and ping too. Happens so fast and so unexpected as there are no cars or obstacles in sight. It falls into one of those "what was that" moments. Don't know what causes it; maybe Gremlins!

I guessed it's the CPA then. Hopefully nothing serious, since I'm taking the car for a long road trip next week. Glad to hear that CPA comes standard with the car now.

I noticed several times while in city traffic if the car in front of me suddenly exits my lane to enter a driveway or enter a left/right turn lane I will get the warning. Apparently the radar just barely gets the other car with enough return to signal the Collision Avoidance.

I've got Distronic on my car which essentially has the same CPA function when I don't have CC active. I'll occasionally get the beep and icon warning when I'm driving on a curve. My older (first generation) Distronic system sometimes gets fooled by curves and thinks I'm coming up on a car too fast when it's really the guard rail or what ever other obstacle is on the side. Perhaps yours has the same issue?

(although I'd thought they'd fix it for the second generation tech)

It also happens when a wheel skids and the ETS or 4ETC system functions to stop the wheel spin.
