ML 350 Bluetec 2013
Brand new 2013 ML350 Bluetec takes 23+ days to get 'addblue' countdown fixed...
I have a 2 month old ML 350 Bluetec and have driven it for 700 kms when the "ad blue" light suddenly appeared, starting the 10 starts left countdown....
It has been in with Weber motors in Edmonton now for over 3 weeks ( and counting) as no one seems to be able to find out exactly how to fix this....
They are communicating with MB Germany on this, wait a day for a reply, then order in a new part, then take a day or two to get it, only to build it in and see the problem is not fixed....
I am super disappointed to say the least. It is such an awesome car.
Does anyone have any ideas or feedback?
It seems rather unusual for MB Canada not to carry parts or knowledge for a car they are selling.

The Adblue system on my Bluetec had been completely problem free so far.The "add fluid" warning came on at about 18K miles (don't know what that is in kms) and I think that's damn good on one tankful. However,my BMW's system had one problem,at about 3K miles, which took the dealer a week to fix (mainly due to a wait for parts). After that it was fine until trade in.As annoying as your situation is I think you can look forward to problem free driving after the problem is resolved.MB has made at least one system well and I'll wager that it is,for the most part,a problem free system.
However, assuming that Canada has "lemon laws",as do many of our states, you'd probably be wise to closely document everything that's happening just in case my optimism proves to be unfounded.

do you have a list of what parts they've replaced?
Inside the adblue tank is an integrated unit that sends the level of adblue to the computer, and also whether or not the liquid passes a test for specific gravity or whatever litmus test they use. I imagine that would be the first thing that needs replacing, in its entirety.

This happened after only 870 miles on the clock. It is brand new out of the box.
It has taken them 3 weeks replacing various parts, they are apparently running through them one by one. And for some reason the dealership cannot stop the countdown themselves too, so it has 2 or 3 starts left.

Brand new ML started ad blu countdown, dealership cannot reset this
The dealership has now ordered a specially programmed unit, from Germany to fit into my car to see if this fixes the problem. Something that is "car specific" as they said they could not use any other ML's part.
Hopefully this fixes it, I will know tomorrow.
It has been in for almost a month now

I wouldn't want it back after such a repair. God only knows how much stuff was ripped out and replaced. Shotgunning a problem is not the way to repair it. It is a last ditch effort when you have no clue as to what is wrong.
Normally when MB can't fix something they say they can't duplicate it. But they can't say that in your case. Good luck.

when things are "fixed" out of the factory it never really is a "fix", I hope it works out but my suggestion would be to fight it and get them to buy back the car. It has been over 3 weeks which is not normal

"A new vehicle that was purchased, leased or registered in New York State for personal use and which manifests a serious problem or defect that is not corrected after four or more repair attempts, or is out of service due to repair for at least 30 days within the first 18,000 miles or two years, whichever comes first, may be eligible for lemon law relief through the arbitration program. If successful, the consumer will be entitled to either a full refund of the purchase price (less an allowance for mileage over 12,000 miles), or a comparable replacement vehicle. The prevailing consumer will also be awarded a return of the $250 arbitration filing fee".

If I am correct you only have approx 450 miles on the ML IMO you should check into the Canadian laws. Good luck.
Off topic - katiesdad7 did you return your ML yet?

This was the written response.
I' m not sure where the control model sits
"They ordered in a control module for you from Germany and was set to arrive in Toronto yesterday so we are just trying to see if we will have the part for today. We would have swapped it out of another ML but they are specific to each ML so it has to be programmed to your vehicle."

it scares me when they say they will swap parts off another car.... thats not the way to deal with a new car.... especially a MB

Most parts come directly from Germany unless in a warehouse in the US, generally California. Doesn't matter where the car's made.

I agree. I don't know about Canada but the NY Lemon Law states the following.
