HI, does anyone know if Mercedes confirmed a new ML400 petrol model will be built for 2014? I was told by the dealer consultant that the ML350 will be phased off, just like the E400 now has replaced the old E350.

The new 3.0 Biturbo V6 (named "400") is slowly phased in across the range, but not necessarily to replace the "350". The ML (W166) interactive manual - attached - has for some time made reference to an ML400 in the Wheels & Tyre combination section. It also curiously refers to an ML320 petrol model. A comparison between the E350 and E400 is attached from the German website. It is in German but easy to understand and compare. The E400 has 333 ps and 480 Nm of torque, but is thirstier than the E350, which therefore continues as a less powerful but more economical model. In Germany at least a detuned version is also sold as the E300 (still with the 3.5 naturally aspirated V6).

I was told by my local Mercedes dealer yesterday (Australia) that you can no longer order the ML350 blue efficiency petrol....ML400 to replace it. I have been advised 3-4 month wait.

Which state are you located? My car hasn't been placed in production yet but I already signed the contract for purchasing ML350 petrol. I would like to get the ML400 .

The new price list for Russia effective from 1.11.2013 lists both the ML300 (detuned version of ML350 engine) and the new ML400 with the the new 3.0 Biturbo V6. The text from the website is in Russian but easily understood re models/ engine capacity / power. Google translation further below.

Speak to your dealer! You may be in for a pleasant surprise.
In 2009, I placed an order for an ML320CDI. Sometime later I was advised there was a problem with the order- "but do not worry". A month after that I was advised it was to be the ML350CDI.
They did not have details of the exact variation until the car arrived 5 months after placing the order. No price variation, just an extra airbag, 5kw, badge and some trivia.

But if you should get the new motor, they may push for price changes?

Yes they do. I ordered one July 2013. It was delivered late November 2013. It is a beautiful car. I am very happy with it, my third Mercedes.
