"Blind spot assist currently unavailable. See operator's manual"
Hi all, my ML350 I've had for about 1.5 months now had this error message today when I was driving to work:
"Blind Spot Assist Currently Unavailable. See Operator's Manual"
initial searching seems this happens when you are towing something, but I am definitely not towing anything. Any other ideas what may cause this?

Was it early morning with a bright sun, low in the sky, directly in front of you? The optics (actual cameras in the upper windshield apparatus, forward of the rear view mirror) in the lane keeping system will send you a similar message if a very bright light interferes with its ability to "see" the lane boundaries. I don't know if blind-spot-assist is part of the same system though.

I have had this occur in the past, but only during very heavy rainstorms, when, apparently the radar is hampered. I believe is may also be caused by excessive dirt build-up over the radar units. Hope that helps.

BLIND SPOT ASSIST INOPERATIVE
I'm currently having the same proble. BLIND SPOT ASSIST INOPERATIVE warning. This started right after my B service. Dealer is checking it out. It is enabled in the command directory. My car is clean, so that rules out dirt on the radar sensors.

It may have to do with my installation of Automatic combined with updating to the latest ios 7 GM build. I reinstalled the phone app and reinstalled the automatic device and it started working again. Will monitor closely and see if it happens again.

Now along with blind spot assist inoperative, My turn indicators stopped working. I'm dropping car off for service today. My dealer ordered new sensors for the blind spot assist.

Dealer replaced the rear sensors and the problem is resolved.. It seems that your turn indicators are tied in with the blind spot assist and when it goes you lose them both....

Oh my goodness. I hope they get this figured out for you.
Blind Spot Assist and turn signals are connected at least in software because when the car senses something in your blind spot and you activate the signal in that direction, the car warns you audibly. It seems a little strange that a failure in one would completely knock out the other one, though.

Problem was the steering wheel module. They replaced it. When the turn indicators are inoperative it throws off the blind spot asist. Problem finally solved.

Similar problem with GLK250
I am having similar problems with my GLK250 on the Blind Spot assist. Dealer has ordered new sensors (on backorder). I do not seem to have issues with my turn signals, but I will monitor.

Same Problem
I have a 2012 CLS550. I hit a pothole last week and got a front driver's side flat tire. 2 days later Blind Spot Assist Inoperative. Got a new tire but the blind spot assist is still out. Got an appointment with the dealer on Monday 3/23

i am assuming this is all covered under the factory warranty. its issues like this that makes me want to get an extended warranty, but I believe the extended warranty does not cover all these gadgets.
