Windhield Washer fluid additive

Called MB dealership and asked if they have any lower temp additive for my windshield washer fluid because I'm going up north. They can't order it! BS... Anyway, the tech said I could use any. What would you guys recommend?

Nanook, not sure about Canada, but in US heated washer fluid is an option, I ordered it on my ML which is in transit. All my older Mercedes had this as standard, the 2006 ML did not so I made sure my new one did. It is a spc code here.

The past systems have the coolant hoses run in a coil inside the fluid "bottle" to keep it heated. There is a thermostat that determines if the fluid goes through it or by passed in warm weather. About all I know but I do know it works!

I get the blue stuff for $2 or less a gallon that is rated for -20 degrees Fahrenheit and never have had a problem in any of my cars, Mercedes or not. Don't know about heated washer fluid but never had a problem with the -20 stuff and it got down to -10 about two weeks ago here in Colorado.

The only place I found is at AAFES. I think it was about $3 and it's rated up to -20*

I use any fluid that's rated to -35F or colder if you can find it. Anything less freezes in my non heated headlamp washers, even at +20F.
For what it's worth, MB sells something called "Winter Fit", but I have yet to actually see it at a dealer or anywhere.

Walmart has the rain-x I picked some up today for $2.77. I have also seen some other stuff up in Canada that was good for -35deg F in a Costco and t was very inexpensive. I usually pick up a case of it when I go north.

Yeah dealership had to special order it. We live in the dessert and it barely snows in El Paso, TX. Going to a road trip to Chicago then Canada...

I use VW/Audi fluid part no G052166M2, which is rated to -70C. This is probably far below northern Canada needs.
To reduce the cost I water it down, as my minimum is about -15C.

I should've not dump my old one out because it hasn't even reached 15*F here at Brampton. When I get back to TX I'll put the MB stuff again.

The owner's manual states "Only use washer fluid that is suitable for plastic lamp lenses, e.g. MB SummerFit or MB WinterFit. Unsuitable washer fluid could damage the plastic lenses of the headlamps." I've never seen any of the auto store fluids labeled saying that they are safe for plastic lenses. Has anyone checked for this?

This concerns me as well, as I have a '13 that has the headlamp washers in the front bumper. (I believe these were removed mysteriously for '14, in the US models at least) I plan to keep the car for several years, and don't want to take any chances with the $2600 a piece bi-xenon fixtures. Saw that $ figure in a recent post on here.

I have also looked and have not found any locally on the shelf that says it's ok for plastic lenses. The dealership actually gave me a gallon of stuff that's your typical off-the-shelf -20F methanol mix, when I went in there a few weeks back (it was "free"). I didn't pursue the MB WinterFit route with them, and will use that gallon in my wife's car.

So far, I have ordered Einszett's winter mix from Amazon, and plan to use their summer mix as well.

Thanks for the Einszett's recommendation -- it is now in my wish list given that it cites safe for use on all surfaces, including plastic lenses.

Does anyone know what the size of the washer fluid tank is? I looked at the manual and can't find the information. I just added 1g of Rain-X and it looks like it could have taken much more.

5.5 U.S. quarts for anything other than ML63, which has even more capacity.
