Unknow audio "bong" source
On a few random occasions I've heard an audible "bong" alert that I cannot identify. I don't know what it's alerting to and seems to have happened in the same general location. Initially I thought it may be a phone text message but the last couple of times there was no envelope icon and no message. There are no other notifications showing and nav is not active on the display.
This alert is coming through the vehicle speaker system.
Any ideas ?

I don't know what it is either, but I've heard it I'm my car also. First I thought it was the driver alert, but I didn't get the coffee-cup symbol. I haven't gotten it recently, though.

I haven't noticed any abnormal bong type of sound, have you figured it out yet? OP in the thread deleted his posts but someone quoted him and it says it was a driver alert... Cause was not defined.

The bong sounds familiar. Next time it happens look immediately to the center dash for a warning message. It could be a number of items. I've had the sound for air pressure, distronic failure and another that doesn't come to mind right now.

If I am not mistaken you also get that alert when a belted rear seat passenger unbuckles in motion (kids in the back....)

My collision prevention assist goes off at a pair of blinking yellow stoplights near my place of work. This is the "imminent" crash detection feature which I would probably turn off if not for the one time it actually went off in a situation that I found helpful. I find that it goes off frequently when a car ahead turns off the road (as I pass with plenty of room) and then the anomalous places where it just likes to go off. I'm guessing some sort of electromagnetic interference...or hauntings.

Yup I'm familiar with this tone..mine does alert occasionally as well..but it's not it...it's a bong like when you hit low fuel if I recall correctly...but my fuel is not low...

No don't think it's a temp alert as I leave from a warm garage every morn and mL doesn't alert outside even tho it's very cold..and these alerts have been after vehicle has been outside for hours

Heard it again today..of course it occurs quickly and unsuspecting..and it happened in the geographic location to the block..after leaving the same light...fairly robust accel up to about 100 kms then off throttle...this time I noticed the green car icon come on ( I surmise I met the minimum speed for the radar system) then I think it bonged..and radio mutes when it does...then the icon went white again as I slowed fairly rapidly...so...? something to do with the distronic or presafe brake I suspect..

The car icon changing from white to green is the lane keeping assist function. White indicates that it can't identify where the lane markings are. Green indicates that it can see the lane markings and the assist function is active.
If the lane assist function kicked in, you should have felt a vibration in the steering wheel at the same time as the bong. Otherwise, your mysterious bong is some other function.

Nope don't think that was it..I did not cross or near any lines nor feel the steering wheel alert..searched all he nanies but cannot fins anything relating to this noise/alert or what ever it is

It is telling you that you are cutting people off... It actually gets louder depending on the severity!
Also if you get to close to people in front of you (at least I think... I notice it when I cut one person off and run up the butt of the slow person that is in the fast lane.
Whatever it is.... It is a bit of the "nanny" looking over your shoulder...
All of this could be in addition to what other people have described here but I'm not positive. When I cross the line... My car simply applies brake and pushes me back to center... Can't remember if it beeps but I don't think that it does at that point.
