Cost of Adblue Service?

What have diesel owners been paying for an Adblue service at the MB dealer? Has anybody gone to a truck stop and added fluid there? Was there a savings?

Do buy one of the 2 liter bottles from MB, Audi or VW. It will have the correct spring loaded valve with screw connector to fit the filling port so you don't spill it all over.

After emptying it, cut out the bottom and use it as a funnel for the 2.5 gal container from Wally World or any auto parts store or truck stop.

I agree. Nothing special about going to the dealer for this. My F250 uses uses the same stuff. It's cheap and you can add it to the vehicle yourself...I do it at every oil change, unless my truck tells me different. Open nozzle and pour in tank.

The above suggestion is good. Buy a mercedes bottle once and reuse it ...for the nozzle.

A gaggle of MB's
Actually - park on slight downhill - pour slowly to prevent "burp back" - use your ear and/or flashlight to hear when you are close to full - no need to "fill to the top"..

Just backwards from the Audi Q7 that likes a slight uphill for best flow. If you do burp some out, just rinse it away with water after you replace the fill cap. The stuff is totally harmless, unless you get it in your eyes.

My mistake, you are correct with ML, slightly uphill is good... on GLK250BT it's slightly downhill... much appreciated !

I chose the diesel for two reasons. I wanted the better fuel mileage and I wanted to be able to comfortably tow my classic car. So far no regrets.

If you're already getting a 4matic ML, the bluetec will pay for itself in roughly 30 - 40k miles given current gas prices. It will also feel much more powerful as the torque from the bluetec is available at very low RPM comparatively.

We also chose a diesel ML for the fuel mileage and the ease of towing.

I just picked up DEF at the MB dealer here. My first oil change and DEF replenishment.(2014 ML350BT @7500miles)
I was expecting a smallish bottle that people describe throughout this site.
They gave me a 2.5 gallon jug with just a purple plastic spout like on a gas can.
Does not appear to be special. The spout is not connected so you have to remove the cap and screw on the spout. So walmart refill is easier.
I asked if they had the smaller one and he states that is all they sale now.
2.5 gallon jug $45.

You can get the 2 liter jug with the correct screw fitting and valve (so that it doesn't spill over) at any Audi or VW dealer. You can buy 2.5 gallons of the DEF just about anywhere, but at a MB dealer, for less than $15.00.

My local MB stealership wanted $185 to top off my Adblue (DEF- diesel exhaust fluid) tank on my ML bluetech. It was in for its 10K mile A service. They said they had to "reset" the computer... blah blah. Its all BS to rip you off. It states right in the owners manual that you can just top off or if it is low enough that it is giving you the remaining number of starts on the dash warning, just fill it and it will reset after starting back up and driving it. $12 to $13 per 2.5 gallon jug with pouring spout at Auto Zone or similar auto parts store. Don't let the stealership rip you guys off.

...especially since at the dealer's prices for an Adblue "Service" they are certainly eating up most of the monetary savings you accumulated with extra MPG by buying the more expensive Diesel fuel version of the ML instead of the Gas version.

Very short sighted of MB. MBUSA could thwart the dealership's money grab by including Adblue in the prepaid maintenance. It would prod more people to buy it up front too.
