Best deal off MSRP

Hello,


I live in Houston, Tx. Anyone have any luck negotiating ordering a new ML350 with better than 10% off MSRP? If so any recommendation? I plan on loading with about 13-15K in options,

Got 12% off an order back in January before they knew I was going to add a bunch of options. With that discount I ended up adding enough options to get up around $73K MSRP for an ML350 gasser. No special discounts either. Just a good, long term customer.

Remember the first one that talks during the negotiation loses!

The general consensus from what I'm seeing as well as personal experience is between 10 and 12%.

I'd probably expect 1/2 that off MSRP if you walk in there asking for a base model with no options. Options is where there is HUGE markup so the more options, the more wiggle.

You need to let them compete! If it is like my town who has two MB dealers, they are owned by the same person. I would not only look in Houston but some of the surrounding dealers, also.

I ordered at end of March and dealer was all out of allocations for 2014's so had to do a "swap" to get another dealer's un-sold build slot....sticker was about $62,600 and got it for $58,000 (7.4% off MSRP).

That's pretty good. I wonder if you get more off from something already on the lot, or if you order one to your specs???

The more options will always gain the most off as the dealer and MB have more to play with. When you can turn a base ML into over $80k deal they should be able to give a good discount.

Well, for those that are interested - on inventory vehicles any dealer is MOST interested in closing the sale at end-of-month to make their new car target # from MB - and end-of-month/end-of-quarter gives double monthly/quarterly target motivation to the dealer.

Local market competitiveness between different MB dealers depends on the nature of that market area - and also competitiveness between other luxury brands in same area to score a unit for MB as compared to BMW/Lexus/Infinity, again based on competitive model in-stock.

I am also in Houston and am considering a ML350. I was looking at the Executive Allowance Bonus as an add-on - you might check to see if your company is eligible. United also offers discounts to premier Mileage Plus members.

I plan to visit MB Sugarland to see what the offers may be. Good luck.

what about lease rate?

I just went to dealer today to test drive CPO ML350 2011, but after test drove 2014, I had changed my target.
did not negotiate anything yet! this is what I got
MSRP 54,175, Price 51,150 36M/10K, money factor .00136, cash 4,893
$599/month with out tax.
what do you guys think? and where I can find MB finical service lease rate?

paul, any reason why you're putting close to $5k down on a lease? Your money factor seems to be pretty good. Keep the money in the bank/investments and make a slightly larger payment.

I just worked out my ML350 purchase and here was my deal (just to give you an idea):

MSRP: $58,685
Paid: $52,800
$0 down, no trade, 66mo @ 1.99%, $962/mo which includes prepaid maintenance.

the buy rate in May for ML leases is .00114 for tier 1 credit customers. So assuming you are in this category, the dealer is making pure profit of approximately 1/2 a percent interest on each of your payments. Your discount is reasonable but you didn't state what your residual % is. Based on numbers I was given for 36 months - 10K per year -- the residual % should have been 55%.

As the previous responder mentioned, making the down payment on the lease is not a good financial move and puts that money at risk if you end up having the car either stolen or totalled.

I don't plan to put a money down for lease. they just try make me feel good about low payment. But i just got email from one dealer that they will price $4000 off from ML invoice and $4,500 off from GLK invoice. Do you guys think this is best deal so far?

I once did a deal for a friend. This is what I was able to get him

$1800 due-at-signing. 24 months. 12K a year 66k msrp. Invoice 62.5. Got the car for 62,000. Guy is paying $775 a month with taxes rolled in.

$4,000 off invoice seems like a good deal depending on what the MSRP of the vehicle is. Also depends on if you are leasing or buying as they can play games with the MF (as I mentioned above) and the lease acq fee to add to their profit.

If you are considering buying, there are some aggressive dealers out there who will make a pretty sharp deal on a 2015 that you can order to your exact specs and you will have a car that is a model year newer. If you are leasing, the lease deal may or may not be as good on a 2015 as MB may not be as aggressive on the MF at the beginning of deliveries for the 2015s and there will probably be no incentive rebate BUT the residual will probably be higher and you won't be buying options (such as running boards, etc) that you don't want.

My dealer wouldn't go more than $3,000 off MSRP on a 2014 $77,000 ML550. They had to dealer trade for it. I'm pretty certain I'm getting a crappy deal but I couldn't find any other ML550's or ML350 BTC with the options that I wanted. Frustrating....
