I'm pretty much sold on the Civic (she wants a coup of course..looks trumps function) although I feel it's appearance is dated it scores high points for me as follows:
#1-safety
#2-efficiency
#3-resale
#4-reliability
#5-value
Value being last as of course it's over priced..I think second choice may be the Mazda3 but for resale they're a dime a doz...

I had a coupe accord before and I loved it but now I cant justify not having 4 doors. I did feel that I was a 20 year again when my local service dept. loaned me a 2012 e550 coupe and on those few days I felt single again as well until my daugther rode with me and I struggled putting her car seat on the back and making sure thr red nappa leather wont get damaged at the same time.

I know Mercedes is having their CPO sale with a terrific warranty and some very appealing financial offerings. Comparing prices with a CPO C Class coupe with a new Honda Civic and/or Mazda 3 might be the way to go. Another option is perhaps a SLK.
Just my two cents. Congrats to your daughter on starting college!
