ML250 vs ML350
Hello.
What is the main difference between a 2012 ML250 and a ML350?
The car will be used mostly in town and not so much offroad or on highways. Mostly up to ~37 mph speed limits in town. Neither will there be any heavy towing.

The above statements are true!
But depending on there you live there is a huge increase in standard options between the 250 and 350. In Australia, the 250 has the bare minimum of goodies, it is the entry level base model. The 350 comes with more of the luxury items, safety intervention features, better wheels etc etc.
It really depends on what your priorities are in a car.

I would say they are both solid diesel engines. If given a choice go 350. Neither are a ladies engine nor mans. They are pretty solid diesel power plants. Many forum members thing they are funny knocking the 250 with little knowledge of it. I have had both so feel free to ask me anything and I can provide real feedback instead of a lame joke.

Agree with Hutch…I have both engines; GLK250, ML250, and GL350. Very solid….and was pleasantly surprised that the 250 is really all you need in a ML. it has great torque and passing power.

I'm picking up my 2015 ML350 Bluetec this coming Saturday, I can't wait. Any tips for the inspection, my first SUV ever!

Personally, I currently have a '12 350. Panicked when we drove the 250 and hastily decided to dump our vehicle for one of the last '14 350's we could find. Things didn't work out as planned and we missed out on it. Toyed w/ the idea and drove several GL350's and F15 X5 35d's. Excellent vehicles in their own rights but not 100% sold on neither one. Came back to the ML as a perfect fit, even to the point of my wife considering a gas ML350. So we may just wait till the end of the year to see how the GLE250 BTC turns out. Already looking into the RaceChip Pro or Ultimate if necessary.
The 350 vs 250 comparison only comes into play if you have driven the 350 prior. For newcomers, they'll find that the 250 is probably just fine.
