I DID'NT WRITE THE ARTICLE!
LOL! A really big case of shoot the messenger here:
No one here is more or less an auto enthusiant because they think or don't think an article is wrong. That is ridiculous to even say.
I posted from an article from one of the most respected tenured auto magazines in the world (Motor Trend). If they are wrong so be it. I made no claims that the article is correct or incorrect. I did say that a 'typo' is usually not a full sentence with so much pertinent detail.
I did say,
as I did'nt embellish the story.
Again, I posted someone else's press release report and also some evidence that MBZ coupes typically have shorter wheelbase. Hey, it's still quite a mystery (to me) because if the wheelbase has no change there would not be any need to mention anything about it, especially so explicitly with details.
I thought it news worthy to post here. If you don't think it was news worthy or a mistake why keep Shooting me and saying I can't be an enthusiant? That's the insane part to this whole thing. LOL!

For those interested. This video reports seating up to seven:
http://www.thecarconnection.com/news...-video-preview
also reports:
"A new Night package blacks out trim and fits 20-inch black gloss wheels."
DISCLAIMER: E55 KEV did'nt make the video or know if this is 100% true. The guy could of just made it up so I would post it here. Might be a typo in his script.

"As for the wheelbase, it's been stretched from 114.8 inches to 121.0 inches, which should increase passenger room."
Read more: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...#ixzz3WBfSBLZ7
"the wheelbase of the new GLE class is much longer than the ML class because the wheelbase of the new GLE class is 121,0 inches, while the current ML’s wheelbase is only 114.8 inches. This additional length..."

So take this for what you will but I was at the NY auto show yesterday. The new GLE vehicles are on a stage upstairs. I started to ask one of the reps there about the questions we have had. He interrupted me and directed to me to a gentleman downstairs where the current GL was being shown (I can't remember his name) and said that he would know the specifics of the suv's. So I went downstairs, asked around, and found him. He stated that both the GLE & GLE Coupe are both on the same W166 chassis as the current ML. The wheelbase of the standard GLE is the same as the current ML. The GLE Coupe however is slightly longer so as to accommodate the coupe shape but provide more interior space than BMW's X6. As for the extended 121" wheelbase, he said that is definitely the GL. The GLE & GLE Coupe he said should be in showrooms by September. When I started to ask about the GLS, he smiled and said the only info he could give is that it would be shown at an auto show in the fall. I tried pressing for exactly which show or an on sale date and only got another smile and a "I can't reveal that info at this time".

Really Kev? Who is shooting? Maybe you should re-read your posts. Who said you're not an enthusiast? Re-read my post, it seems to me like I was extending an olive branch and offering you a second chance here.
If you want to act like a Jackass, then OK. The sarcasm came from you. You quoted a mistake, no big deal. But then you challenged others to back up your mistaken quote. Who really cares?
Another option instead of your attached reply could have been - Hey guys, it appears that the info I posted was wrong. No big deal, I'm sure MB will publish official numbers soon. Sorry for challenging a few of you. Now can we get back to talking about cool cars?
Your choice - nobody here is shooting you, and your not a victim.

Pile On Pile On! I didnt write the articles.
You 'messenger killers' and 'pile on' guys are really mucking up this thread. If you believe the 3 articles and websites I posted is wrong, so be it.
If you dont have anything positive to add or any new or useful information to post about the 2016 GLE then shut the hell up!

Bingo! Thanks for posting this.
That auto show is Frankfurt no doubt in Sept. Should be an exciting time as the new C Coupe will also be there. Not sure what else, but some type of concept too I'm sure.

This thread had a discussion about the wheelbase and YOU appear to be the only one getting agitated. As mentioned previously by another member, you are not the victim here and the entire thread, including the chain of posts and responses, is in plain view to everybody.
Moving on....

Not cool, Kev. With 4000+ posts here I'm gonna assume (perhaps a stretch) that you know how the interweb works and this is not your first rodeo.

"Moving on....." Does'nt seem like you can let it go either.

I should forward this thread to the morons at Mercedes who decided to change the name of the ML to an apparently confusing GLE. Seems like several lazy journalists (and posters here) are looking at GL stats.
And to add some gas to the fire I think there is zero chance they are changing the wheelbase on the GLE during this mid-cycle refresh. Its a fairly mild bunch of cosmetic changes.

Honestly MLBlue, I thought it strange there were reports that the wheelbase changed. Still do.

I'm pretty sure this official MB document is the source of the wheelbase confusion, and yes, it clearly says 121".
That said, I remain convinced that it's a mistake and an intern in the PR office simply mixed up the GLE and GLS specs when preparing the release.

I didn't call you a Jack ***. Why don't you read exactly what I wrote, words and context matter.
I apologize to other members who may have been looking for information on the new car, as I was.

Kev - I'm done as well. You should really read a bit more closely, obviously you are just looking for a fight.

Wish this thread would gain some traction again. GLS thread on the X166 forum is up to 9 pages now. With the GLE already being shown and pre-production models on the ground, would be nice to have more facts come out. Can it be confirmed that the engine in the GLE300d is the same as the ML250BTC? And not just talking about output specs. Any technological changes in the 350 or 400 engines? How about the inner workings of the 500e? Does the hybrid system have any similarities or "lessons learned" from the w164 ML400 hybrid? Anyone plan on cross shopping the 500e w/ BMW's X5 xDrive (or Porsche Cayenne hybrid)? Should make for interesting M/T or C/D articles next year as the GLE, X5, & Cayenne will all have a volume seller 6 cylinder gas, diesel, hybrid, & all out performance AMG/M/Turbo S. Which excels at each powerplant?

Time to go bug your Dealer ...
The 2016 GLE W166 dealer order Guide and the 2016 GLE Coupe C292 Dealer Order Guides just dropped in onto your dealers... call and give them heck...
Please note that this 1st issue Dealer Order Guide has very-very-very little pricing info on either Base Price - and in this case Options/Packages are TBD too.
Sorry - I can't post the DOG - I was ratted out to MB last time - I'll live with that - but not a year to bait the Tiger-On-Fire corp speaking..
Now a big clue for the Conspiracy Theorists... let's see, the GLE is W166 series, and the new GLE Coupe is C292 series... so you might be thinking, well, the chassis and wheelbase might be a bit different, don't you think...

Sorry - I am sure it will surface in time from elsewhere - DOG certainly is harmless enough - but technically by MB executive definition is not to be copied to the public - last year got ratted-out/blown-out-of-proportion ...
