2012 ML350 Rear Hatch

rear hatch won't open sometimes either thru remote or trunk handle. it would open for about an inch then either stops there or closes back up. I had to manually pull it all the way up for it to open then it will operate fine for awhile.
appointment made... anyone else experience this before?
I took it in and it was the right hatch shock that contains the memory which needed to be replaced. The mechanic said that the reason this happens is that once the memory height is set to memory, the hatch door must be opened and closed by either the button on the driver's door, the hatch button itself or via the remote. If the hatch is opened or closed manually it will screw up the memory because of the force placed on the door which messes up the memory. They don't usually reprogram the settings and just replace the shock itself. The problem is most dealers don't have them in stock and must order them, which usually takes a couple weeks. For the past three years since the repair I have never opened or closed the hatch manually, using only the buttons, and I have not had a bit of trouble since.
Since yours probably is still under warranty I would get it checked out by dealer right away & have it fixed.
Thank you.

New control board after being in the shop 2 days....worked for one day.
Service is scratching their heads...I am urging them to engage an MB engineer, but they are hesitant.
1. Sometimes it lost the member height limit previously set. It open up to the maximum and touch the ceiling of my garage.
2. Sometimes, when I press the hatch, the it open just a little (less than 1 inch) and stop.
3. Sometimes, when I press the hatch, the it open just half way, not to the limit I set.
