I was watching this the other day myself. It's no question that the 63 is a beast of an engine. In all fairness though, The X6 is on it's 2nd generation so BMW has had a good bit of time to tweak the driving dynamics of the "coupe" suv (excuse me, SAV) to closely match that of a car. Lots of techno gadgety at work under there. A lil while ago there was another test done I believe between the ML63, X5M, and Cayenne Turbo and something similar was said. When pushing the 63 hard on the track, with the nannies "off", they're still on. It cut the throttle, belt tightened, safety systems etc kicked in. Can't find that video for the life of me right now.

Very disappointing !!

I remember the w166 ml63 being very close to the Porsche Cayenne Turbo on the track!!

Why on earth couldn't amg make the gle63 coupe lighter

You are correct, ML63 vs the Cayenne Turbo, no X5M. In the video below at about 3:09 mark is when they take the 63 on the track. The safety nannies are never really off.

My guess would be that it would be that it is at a disadvantage due to at it's core, originating from the ML chasis. A vehicle designed more for luxury and a bit of off-road capability. Vehicles like the Cayenne and X6/X5 were designed from the ground up with a focus on the performance side of things.

Disappointing? Well not really

I too would love to see the AMG kill the X6 in reviews HOWEVER in the real world, who is buying this kind of vehicle to toss it around the track?
For everyday use I think the GLE coupe is more than capable and nothing beats the sound of an AMG.

That blue dress on the X6 is stunning though!!

MB is manufacturing their C-Class with extensive use of aluminum. Maybe on the next redesign, they will do that on the GLE.

Its not that hard to gain 200 kg on the w166 ml i remember reading an article of a Russian TUNED w166 ml63... At the end , our cars are even more comfortable, faster and handle better so i (still) don't understand why MB is not thinking about this :-(

On top of all ... The ML would have a better fuel economy !

In order to save 200 kg the tuner used cf hood, lighter Recaro seats front & back, carbon AMG brakes and removed the sunroof
