I saw this on the other w164 forum, and was wondering whether or not MBUSA would pickup the tab for my adblue heater. Dealer is charging me 1.9k, and my car has 47k miles and its a 2013 (purchased in JAN 2013)

As far as I know, heater is part of the emission and Emission warranty in US 8 years / 80K
You should be covered, but cant guaranty.
At least something to ask.

He said this is just a part and wouldn't budge for anything, making a formal complaint with mbusa, and asking for a full reimbursement

Meaning it had no bearing on the emissions system and therefore wouldn't be covered under any warranty. He also alluded to the fact that this happens often and I should've expected it since I bought a diesel. My car is 2 months out of warranty, I am going to stick to leasing from now on. (sorry for my rant)

You're not ranting at all - you have a good reason to be frustrated. I'd continue to try to take it up with them. I'm in a warm climate and don't expect this to happen to me but I want this system gone/disabled as soon as my warranty is up. Very hard finding reviews of the emulators though. They range in price from $20 to north of $1000. Anyone on here ever use one? There's a ton on their vans with the same engine.

I'm planning on keeping this car until well over 100k miles and working on it myself as much as I can so I'm actively investigating how to simplify it. The EPA requirements over the past decade have added so much complexity to these diesel engines... disgusting. EPA's killing great diesel engines. Our 1996 Passat TDI would give a Prius a run for its money on MPG's and it didn't require much maintenance. Even then, the EGR's fouled up the top ends. Another thing that's getting blocked off if I ever have to touch the oil cooler.
