I used to have a Racechip in my vehicle but their app doesn’t work right and I kept getting a check engine light and when browsing around I noticed CPA Chiptuning now has US based support. I reached out to them and decided to give them a shot. Here are some thoughts. I am no mechanic and the installation took me a while. Basically I ended up removing the air filter boxes for easy access. Since those were out I opened them and was greeted by an old filter. Picture below. Mind you this truck is serviced at MB but that is a discussion for another day.

I got their Connect system which comes with a gas pedal module and you control both the engine and gas pedal in one. It’s the gadget pictured.
The gas pedal plug was a bit tough to get to but I got it in the end.
I have been running this for a week now and really like it. No phone needed to try and set it up. Just works when starting the engine and somehow the gas pedal uses a wireless link to control the engine module as well.
Power delivery is smooth and now I don’t even care anymore that the 550 does not have a sport button like my old ML63 since the Pedalbox allows me to select different sport modes. Fantastic. I had so many issues with the Racechip app and phone compatibility that using the one adjuster makes this a no brainer.
CPA chiptune screwed up my transmission after using it for around 6 month.. Be careful...
it doesn't respond well to ignition being on but the engine is off, this situation is sometime when your filling up, you leave the keys in.

Given that my prior chip caused some issues and this one runs fine I am confident. Still going strong. Maybe you had a wrong version, Euro spec? Installation wrong? They just started selling in the US.
