seafoam...yes or no?
Any reason why it is not a good idea to use seafoam on our DI engines? I will be acquiring 8 cans for free and been reading stuff about it and makes me wonder if our MB engines can have a seafoam bath before going for an oil change.

I'd drink the stuff if I could. Every time I've used it, it either did nothing because my issue wasn't fuel-delivery related or made a difference.
I didn't know you could add it to the crankcase though.
Guess what I'll be throwing into the crankcase on our filthy-running diesel 300 km before the next oil change...

you may want to read this before you dump it in your car. people put this in their boat fuel and i can't for the life of me figure why.

not answering on the grounds i'm not a chemical engineer. but, way back when we went to ethanol i read up to be prepared and it seemed to come thru clearly not to add more alcohol. (dry gas etc was alcohol based). i'm trying to be careful not to tell anyone what to do, but look in to it. ron

Gotcha Ron, I appreciate the effort. And yes, I know that alcohol is not an engines' best friend. Our BMW down in Florida sits in the garage for 5 months of the year. When I read about the effects of ethanol on a vehicle, I started gassing up with Recreation gas from that day.
But we're talking about one tankful being filled with this treatment once every year or so. Way less than the 10% ethanol being sold in gasoline. I honestly doubt that there's any real danger, but your concern does raise a point.
