rear brake pad / rotor replacement at 24K? What is the cost?
Hello
My ML250 (2015) recently had the Check-brakes warning turned on. Took it to the dealer - they just got back with a cost of $787 for rear brake-pad and rotor replacement. The vehicle has 24K miles on it - and has been serviced at the appropriiate intervals. Is it usual to need replacement of rotors and brake pads with such low mileage? Is the cost reasonable?
Thanks

Jesus what are you doing slamming on the breaks while in reverse? lol. Find a good Mercedes independent shop to do the pads and rotors. Cheaper then the dealer.

I have 50,000 on my 2015 ML350, with original brakes and pads. Might check into just having someone turn the rotors and put news pads on it. Would be cheaper , if they could do it. Cost is reasonable for a MB dealer but cheaper somewhere else. As far as replacing with 25,000 miles, newer cars seem to go through rear brakes alot quicker than the ones 10-15 years ago. Expect it is due to all the computer assist for anti-lock, and anti roll features of MB SUV. Also, there is a MB coupon on this site good for 150 off any maintenance over 250 dollars.

47k miles on my ML350 and still with original brakes. I keep thinking I will need new brakes soon as I do a fair amount of towing. Won't be going to the dealer for that service.

I bought pads and installed them by myself.
Dealers always wants to change rotors each time but mine was in good shape and far away from min mark.
Next time I will replace rotors so far I added 40K and still good.

I replaced mine at 42000 miles from indi shop, and paid $660 for both rotors and pads. My dealer quoted $850.
Mine didn't even triggered pad warning sign, but one pad which didn't have sensor attached got paper thin.
I agree all of you, the price is reasonable, but can be cheap if you are using someone other than the dealer.

Thanks for all the replies. I do tow a starcraft tent trailer with mine - its about 3000lb loaded - so well under tow limit (and used with a brake controller). It looks like most of you are getting more mileage on your brake pads. The service adviser mentioned my rear pads had 1mm left.. I had my B service done not long ago - and I don't seem to remember them mentioning brake pads but I will have to check.
Anyways - I got quotes from three repair shops all of which specialize in imports / german cars (and good reviews on google / yelp) - and the quotes are interesting - $420, $580 and $720 !! Two of them use Textar parts (which they said were the same ones that MB uses - except these wouldn't be MB labeled) - I forgot to ask the third (and most expensive one). I won't be doing the service at the dealer.
