Hello all!

I have a few questions about headlamps!

Firstly, I have a 2015 ML 350 with the base halogen headlamps. I'd love to swap them out for HID units, but I'm not sure what to do. I've seen OEM used HID headlamps on eBay for about $500 a piece. I'm not sure if this is a "plug and play" swap. How much work does it take to install these headlamps?

Secondly, are there other options? For example are LED replacement bulbs for headlamps any good, or is the technology not quite there yet?

Finally, I'm interested in mounting some LightCannons to the front grill. Is installing these lamps something a relative novice can do without setting my car on fire?

And one bonus question. The ambient lighting in my car is pretty dismal. I believe that there was an option package to include extended ambient lighting - as it is I have some very dim lights in the footwell that are barely visible due to the black carpet, and one light in the rearview mirror. What are my options for improving them?

Thank you so much!

I have 2 HID headlights with all modules with the SAM module from the same car. You will need this to do the swap. Let me know if you are interested.

I am interested. But let me ask, what does this kind of swap entail work wise? I'm not very adept at these things..."plug and play" is about as able as I am.

you will need to find someone locally that can do some wiring. and programming. I did a full swap from ML To GLE headlights. Everything is possible.

Thanks. I might be able to get my local dealership to do it. I also have a friend who is an MB mechanic. How many hours of labor do you think it will take?

You want HID not LED. There are plenty of Morimoto kits available from AZN Optics.

Mine works flawlessly.

1) AZN optics, alot of people go this route
2)you can change the brightness of the ambient lighting in the BC (Board computer)

I didnt read the earlier posts, but do you have the ILS system? or did you do a retrofit?

The problem with every Xenon retrofit I've tried is that the H7 adaptor doesn't fit snugly onto the bulb itself, making it damn near impossible to screw into the socket. That, and Mercedes made the access port incredibly tiny.

I once spent four hours trying to get a xenon bulb with the adaptor to fit into the socket. Absolutely horrible experience.

And what do you mean by the Board Computer. Just to be clear, my car doesn't have the extended ambient lighting feature.
