*Might* have bought myself an ML63!

I'm going to complete the deal on Tuesday, flying down to FL to purchase the car. Anything I should check specifically besides the obvious pre-purchase items? Anything specific to the beast that I should keep a close eye on while I test drive it?
Thanks in advance for any tips and tricks! Looking forward to joining the AMG club!

Fabric air intake ducts/pipes are mentioned relatively frequently. Replaceable but expensive for what they are.
Give the air suspension a going over. Look at the attitude of the vehicle before starting the engine, at idle, during driving, and after turning off the engine. Listen for hissing and check for sinking struts.

Ah yes. The air ride. I did read about this common issue. Luckily not anything I'm afraid to tackle, should the need arise (no pun intended)
Two things, maybe you're familiar with about the truck.. one, it's missing a key (only one key included with car). How bad of a robbing can I expect from the dealer for a new one? Or is there other options for sourcing a keyfob?
Also, the star is missing on the CF engine cover. Not a biggie, cosmetic issue really. But I'd like to address it without buying a whole new cover. Has this also been "covered" previously? (couldnt help myself for pun no. 2)
Thanks! Will post pics once the deal is done
Part 157-010-58-00 is the entire engine cover, $950. mercedesbenzstarparts.com doesn't show the star as a separate item.
A0002212401 is "engine plate", which appears to be the signature plate? Have a look at both of these on the parts website listed above.

Ahh good info. I found a part no. for the key fob itself and it was over $200 for just the unit. So for $300 I'd say you did well! I'm looking into a $500 Autel 808 unit which can write new keys among many other functions, so I may validate that purchase if the replacement key is any more than $300 for me.
I think I can probably find an appropriately sized silver star to fit in the space and look as OEM as possible. Maybe a grill emblem? Buying a new cover is not a viable option at those prices lol
Thanks for the info!

The ML63 is a ridiculous vehicle, which means we love them
Where in Florida ? I am just south of Sarasota...
When you get here, be patient and check EVERYTHING... I was not patient and missed a few broken things on my '12...
Tires ? check treadwear rating... Pirelli is around 200 aka 10k miles at most.... and continental around 500...
Brakes ? OEM pads/rotors will be about $1k
Tow hitch ?
Mike

Hey Mike! The car is in Miami. Seems to have all the options, P30, active cruise control, parking assist, pano roof etc etc. Tires are 4/32nds and has the tow hitch package. Sticker was $111,xxx

Looks like an "honest" car. No mods what so ever from what I can tell. Rims look like they have curb rash. Probably an older gentleman/lady. Parts actually seem to be pretty affordable for this chassis. I use FCPEuro for most of my needs. If all goes well, she'll be on a trailer up to NY just in time for fall!

Highly recommend a flight down and PPI at a dealer... with the AMG certified mechanic

Appreciate the caution, definitely not my first rodeo. Family business has been cars for decades, dealer license, plates, lot the whole bit. I’m the only one who never got into the industry myself, but I know my way around the garage.
Flew down this morning, checked out the car myself. All is good. Interior bits had a little more wear than pictured (driver seat outboard bolster beat up, scratch on the steering wheel) but mechanically, she passed my PPI.
Pano roof shade rear bit fails to extend or retract. Front part moves fine. Star missing on engine cover. Two/four wheels curbed. All minor cosmetic stuff.
Long story short, I joined the club. Car ships in 8-12 days, and bought it through the dealer auction website which offers me a fair bit of protection against the major ticket items.
Looking forward to seeing you all around here!
Steve

Heres some pics!
Seat bolster needs a little repair. Probably will replace the foam on the driver seat once the car gets shipped to me.
Love the dark wood trim!

I thought it was too from the pictures, but when I went to check the car out it was actually Poplar/Anthracite which was a bonus for me! LOVE the dark wood trim.
Random question, but I couldn’t find the heated steering wheel button to test that function. Does the P30 pack get steering wheel heat or no?

I have the options list that I already printed from another source but some of the options aren’t very obvious and lack description. I don’t think I remember seeing one that said specifically Heated Steering, but I’ll try and look up what that code would be. Does that gentleman you mention have just the list, or is it a description also?
Thanks again for the warm welcomes. Can’t wait to start tackling projects and post up some (hopefully) helpful DIYs as I have in the past for the W163 world.
