Thanks to the Corona Virus, our industry is basically shut down, so today was "put in the heated/cooled cup holder" day for the ML. Pretty easy install. There's 4 wires that go into the unit -- 3 of them are 12v which you can tap from the rear cig lighter (or front), and 1 ground wire. Thanks to CKM for the help there.
Have to road test it tomorrow with a 45 minute commute. Since I made my own wiring harness, the cup holder does not stay on after the vehicle is switched off (which it should, at least if you've used the heat function and the unit is still warm -- there's a spiffy little red LED on top of the main LEDs that lets you know, if the car is off, that the cup holders may still be warm). Not a deal breaker, but an FYI for those who may also do the retrofit.

My OCD is continuing to best me -- I'm now tempted to swap the door handle lights, and put in the tri-color spare ones I have from the trim piece retrofit. Basically, made the door pull match the color of the trim ambient. I keep switching over to Polar, but then go back because the mis-match drives me insane. I don't think I've seen anyone around here do this.
My Polar also seems really dim compared to the Solar and Neutral. Don't know if that's the symptom of how I wired it up, or if Polar was always dimmer because of the blue nature of the LED. Don't have another ML to compare it to

12v in door?
hello, very interesting everything you have done here. on Friday I will start installing an ambient light kit and I would like to ask you where did you find 12v on the door? My car does not have ambient lights in the factory, I bought everything I need, please tell me where find 12v. for this I attach a photo with the module and all the related cables on the rear door. thank you in advance🤝

I understand. I bought a kit from letronix, with the bluetooth module on each led and with colors that can be changed from the smartphone. I hope I can find a 12v power supply on the door, if not from that module, is there at least a 12v that comes in the socket between the pole and the door? and to understand that the table can be taken from mode 7 pin 9? or is it still ok and should a new cable be pulled?

In any case, I will mount a fuse on each +, the negative taken from pin 9. The idea is that I already have a set of ceiling lights mounted on the lighter and I think not to charge too much with 6 more LEDs.

oh you're doing it the ghetto aftermarket way. I advise against that as well, but to each their own

Well, I bought trims with original ambient, from letronix it will be only the LED that illuminates that silicone tube that you have. On the outside there will be nothing different, only the LED will be any color and at a higher power than original. to understand that you can't help me with the 12v source?
