Service A at dealership?

Time for service A, Does everyone take their Benz to the dealership for service or elsewhere?
Is it significantly cheaper if done outside of the dealership? My main concern is "Getting what you paid for",

After years of the dealer charging way too much for A/B service I now do it myself. Takes about 1/2 hr and I’m done. Look on You Tube for Mercedes oil change using an oil extractor.
I bought mine from Amazon $100.
Buy youR OEM oil filter from FCP EURO, they will give you a free replacement every year.

You can save money if you talk to a "Business Manager" "after sales/F&I Guy) and buy prepaid Maintenance. I've bought it twice and the savings paid for my very expensive later on an annual service. (One of them is a big hit) Only problem is if you sell/wreck the vehicle, the prepay is not transferable. I don't buy it any more because its a 2015/ apprx 60,000k, and I already have my eye on something different within the year.

All this assumes you are not at all an automotive DIYer.

It is not worth it.

According to MB regulations, they will be changing engine and cabin filters at the 4th service visit, which means they will change these filters only after 60k.

I've changed mine engine filters after 12k and they were dirty as hell.

So, if you care about your car's engine, do it yourself.

Oil changes are an easy DIY process. No need to get under the vehicle for anything. Get yourself an oil extractor, preferably one that handles at least 8L of oil:
  1. Pull dip-stick out.
  2. Remove oil filter.
  3. Insert tube from oil extractor and extract all the oil out. Sit back and drink a cup of coffee while the oil is being extracted out.
  4. Vacuum left over oil in the area where the oil filter is located.
  5. Install new oil filter.
  6. Pour in fresh oil.

  7. Oil extractor. Black air hose connects to my air compressor.

Oil extractor inserted into oil dipstick tube.

    Overall shot of setup.

Slightly less than 8L of oil extracted as I only added slightly less than 8L when I last changed the oil.

MB’s of all kinds.
Find a good MB Shop to do the work. Much cheaper. I only use the dealership for warranty work.
