2014 ML...will it baby?

My wife and I are talking about starting a family. We recently came close to buying a certified 2017 GLS 450 (i posted about it in the GLS forum) but decided that we didn’t need a larger payment now.

But I have an insatiable urge to look at vehicles and a ML in the $20k-$25k range has my interest is piqued.

Biggest issue: Given how gigantic child seats have gotten, Will one fit in the ML with room for a 6’2” driver up front?

The ML...will it baby?

no it will not. Ignore the first response. I am 5’11, my driver seat in mine is all the way back, and there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY our car seat would fit behind my seat. NO WAY, My daughter’s car seat has to go behind passenger seat. Thank god my wife is 5 foot

Funny our's does.

Maybe we get stretched ML's in Australia.

Aussie's aren't known to be midgets.

I assume you must be talking about a front facing car seat, yes? Otherwise, it's impossible with a modern, rear facing car seat, which the OP needs as he is starting a family, not looking for a car for an existing family with kids, to be anything other than have the driver seat at a 90 degree angle if the rear facing car seat is behind the driver.

Since the GLS you were looking at and the ML have identical front and rear leg room, I would think that if the GLS would work for you then the ML should too.

Rear facing car seat behind the driver seat won't work. Also it won't be advisable to put it there anyway as you need to worry about parallel parking and it will be safer to unload the baby from the right side vs along the road. front facing you have ton of room.

You'll have plenty of room. I'm around 6'4-6'5 and 190 lbs. I have plenty of room while driving and you can even sit a 6ft tall person behind me as well without any problems. Why not test drive one to see?

I'm 6'1 with a toddler who sits directly behind me. No issues here, but I understand you're asking about a baby seat. Since they tend to sit in the middle I personally see you having no issue with spacing. Prior to my ML we had a SQ5 with a rear facing baby seat. The rear is a lot tighter than the ML and we still made it work so I don't see you having any fitment issues.

I didn’t specify, but yes, I was asking abt a rear-facing child seat. Glad you think it’ll work in a ML with a 6’2” driver!
