"Replace key fob battery" message Ml350 2014

I am again getting a "change key batteries" message .
I have replaced with new but message will not go out.
I believe there may be a fix.
Can anyone advise please, it's driving me mad!
Thanks

Easy things first, what is the condition of the main battery? I would replace it if more than 4 years old.

Antennae on MB SUVs have been known to require replacement. There are several receiver antennae distributed throughout the vehicle. Do you get the message when the key is placed in each of the four seats while the engine is running?

Strangely the third new battery I fitted seems to have worked.
Will try your suggestion if it returns.
Thanks

Test the voltage on the new key battery. I've seen many come out of the package at 2.8 or lower. A good healthy one will be 3.2ish. The warning messages start when it drops to about 2.7 so a weak new battery can be bad enough to not even clear the warning. I always put a meter on them when replacing before I suspect anything else in the car.

All the batteries showed 3.3v but it took the third to clear the message (so far!)
Thanks

I have found when I get that message that the store bought battery no matter the purchase date/exp date on the battery package is weak. I order my replacement (Name Brand ONLY Batteries from Amazon, FOIL Wrapped in a strip of 5. They have always been fresh, full power and as easy to open as a sugar packet, unlike the Blister packs at retail which are unopenable without needing commercial tin snips.

I also believe that having both keys in the car, close to the start button somehow weakens the fob batteries faster. (Probably superstitious behavior, but a nagging suspicion.)
