ML350 Ambient Lighting 2015 model
my question is does this seem right? Is that standard on the ML350 2015 amg line premium plus & is the colour changing trim is a optional extra?
thanks for any help,

ive seen people on YouTube installing aftermarket kits with fibre optics & my thought is why wouldn’t you use the pre installed optical cable if that’s what’s standard.
again won’t know fully until we receive the vehicle.
thanks for the reply

2014-2019 W166/X166 should have the tri-color package, and thats accessible via the BC (board computer) through the steering wheel . When you get the car, report your findings here.

If there is amber light on a 2015, then it is user selectable between the three colours. The amber looks best by far as both the white and blue clash with the illumination on the various buttons and controls, which is always amber.

I have the ambients on the GLC i have now i just stay with polar, i mean to each his/her own. My mom's 2016 S550 has the 32 color variant i think and some colors go really good inside the car and im interested in the 64 color variant, but thats not until i get my next MB

Again, AFAIK the cars without the 876 option have no ambient light AT ALL - so if the OP's car has any illumination, it has the three-colour one.
On the ML, the amber is IMHO most suitable especially if you have a brown or beige interior elements as it also matches the switches and the navigation screen colours on the < 2013 cars. The white is not bad on the 2013+ models after they changed the cluster / navigation screen colour from the beige to the white/grey, but the blue IMHO really doesn't work well with the old-school interior. On a GLE, CLC or any other car with the "iPad" navigation screen, the polar indeed looks very nice as it goes well with the updated interior and especially with the aluminum trim... but you are absolutely right that that is a matter of taste and personal preference.

where this thread started filling with dis-information is when the OP did not provide a VIN (sorry, newbie). He may not know the in's and out's of the ambient lighting in the ML's, and may be confused as to why the non-ambient light lights (ie --- the door pulls + button illuminations) are only one color (aka -- solar) if that vehicle did not have the 876 package to begin with (which we all know is standard.
Ambient light in 3 colors was available as an option the w166 chassis from 2012-2015 before the new COMAND system was introduced in the GLE's in 2016 which paved the way towards the multi-colored ambient lights.

I asked if it had ambient lighting & he said yes but it can’t change colour.
I wondered if he knew what ambient lighting is, I didn’t know that the trim could just be a fixed colour. I thought if he says it got ambient lighting surely it can be colour changed. Does he know I’m talking about it around the dash & door trim.
The only evidence on any ambient lighting is a light in the rear door handle which is from a video he took. & the salesman sayings it’s got it but it can’t be colour changed.

Ive seen an older S class model with the solar ambients only too. Thanks for the correction
Additionally, my neighbor had a W166/GLE (dont know which year) but from my casual observations it had the P3 package and occasionally during my conversations with him from his car he had the tri-color. The 2020+ models have the 64 color variant no?
