Hi all,

Excited to join the forum after the recent purchase for my family. Given how hot the car market is, we did well finding this one owner example that was well cared for.

This is the gas engine, and from what I have been reading it is very reliable. And any work that needs to get done seems fairly simple that I can do in my garage. I will be installing apple carplay sometime soon, so that will be the first project!

Next year when we reach around 60k miles, I plan to replace ignition coils, spark plugs, and full fluid change.

Welcome! Looks great. There are lots of good resources on this site and you should have many miles of motoring enjoyment, if you keep up with the scheduled maintenance. Have a look through the “GLE ownership report” thread in the W166 GLE section. The GLE is nearly 100% identical to the ML from 2012 onwards.

@Gray_Panther transmission fluid and filter is also due at 60k miles, and should be done.

Thank you! We are very excited to have an MB back in the fold. My family had a 1984 190E with the regular 2.3 mated to a 5MT. That we ran to over 330k miles and was still going strong. Miss that car, would have been fun to fully restore.

But hopefully, we are able to keep this ML for as long as possible and pass that 300k mile mark!

Welcome and a nice car. I have a 2015 ML 350 which I purchased in 2016 as a CPO. It is approaching 76,000 miles. Replaced tires at 42,000. Just replaced the struts and shocks, still have original brakes, and battery. No problems so far. The new shocks and struts really improved the ride. It was really getting bouncy. Have average approx 21 mpg on mid grade gas.

Good luck and a nice looking car. What the color of the interior?

What's kind of gas? 91 or 93? City/HW combined is 21 mpg? I am still wondering whether I should go a bluetec for higher cost of gas. Thanks!

Did you replace the shocks/struts with new OE, or aftermarket?

Thank you! The interior is black MB tex with brown wood grain trim. I am surprised you changed your suspension at that low mileage, you must live in area littered with pot holes!

This truck is definitely meant for highway cruising where it can achieve 24mpg. But I am also getting 21mpg with premium 93 octane.

I steered away from the ML350 bluetec because of all the issues that are known to happen, oil and fuel leaks galore!
I think, given the option, I would have strongly considered the ML250 bluetec, but I don’t believe that was sold here in the states.

Since this is my wife's car and because in the past I have always upgraded to Bilstein/Konis, my wife made me promise to put the same shocks/struts that came on it. So I put OEM shocks. The car had over 70,000 miles and ws really getting bouncy . The new shocks/structs made it more stable like it was when new.
