I have the similar question. Somebody said Lasfit LED is too bright as low beam via the Amazon review. I also want to change the high and low beam using the Lasfit LED. The only issue is the price.

yeah I think I will go ahead and order these bulbs, overall the reviews are good. These bulbs are custom designed for certain Mercedes (includes w166) and VW models so the installation should be a breeze. The price of $100 for these bulbs is great value compared to over $200 for the Morimoto LED. Also these bulbs are canbus (error) free for our ML unlike the Morimotos.

Following this thread closely. Could you please post pictures of the light cutoff, for example park your car 20ft from a wall to see if the light is controlled or scattered all over for the low beams.

Looking forward to your review!

Actually haven’t made up my mind whether I should get Morimoto HID or these LED. Will let u know what I decide.

here is a vid showing installation of Lasfit LED (high beam, low beam, parking light) in a w166, you can see the beam pattern.

I think Gray_Panther wanted to see a real installation, not a marketing video (full of promises )

If you ask me, I would still go with what @AZN Optics Still sells, they are much better than the low beams halogen's, gives you a good viewing distance, and you dont have any compatibility issues. Just my .02.

thanks! I think I saw that video before and was still questioning the beam pattern because the truck was like 5ft away.

yeah, exactly! I also saw AZN optics kit for $165, seems like a pretty solid solution for the price. I might go that route. Ideally I’d like to do an HID projector retrofit with the morimoto FX-R bi-xenon projectors I have sitting in my basement. But with two kids, I don’t have the time to play with that option.

I installed the Aukey H7 LED for low beam. You can find my Amazon review below with a pic. Overall it is slightly brighter and comes with what looks like a built in canbus resistor. No errors. My main reason was to have matching white color to the illuminated star/parking LEDs. This Aukey one fit well with the 3rd party Mercedes H7 adapter without having to glue together. Almost all our night driving is limited to in city so I don't have a good gauge for the brightness difference. Lasfit without the built in adapter is only $30 or so on eBay.
Bright and fits 3rd party Mercedes adapter perfectly (amazon.com) Bright and fits 3rd party Mercedes adapter perfectly (amazon.com)

I ended up going with the above poster’s solution as well from Aukey. Amazon link was hard for me to understand for the bulb adapters so I went on ebay instead and got it there.

I will post pictures later tonight, the light doesn’t scatter and the beam pattern and color is great!!

can you post the link for the bulbs and illuminated star you purchased? Did you have any issue putting the dust cover back on?
Also for the parking light bulbs you can buy the Lasfit t10 LED bulbs- it’s one of the very few bulbs that will work error free with our w166.

if you are talking about the door that accesses the low beam bulb. Then all you do is unclip the top two tabs and tabs on the side closest to you, then turn the door 180 degrees. The retainer pin stays in place so that the door flap thing is able to rotate around rather than come off.

the job took 20 minutes, the time consuming parts are making sure the plug for the new bulb is connected properly, and putting that door flap back on properly.

Thanks for sharing. Was considering LastFit, but will now try Aukee instead. Did you need to buy the retainer clips or just bulbs?
