Help...ML250 W166 acceleration issues

G'day,
Regular visitor, first time posting here.
I just replaced my oil cooler housing due to a leak and my machanic also cleaned a fare bit of carbon build up in the throttle body while he was removing parts to get the the oil cooler. He put everything back together and now we are having acceleration issues. The car starts up fine but takes ages to change gears and doesn't seem to automatically go above 3rd gear. I can change it manually though. I should also add it that when I turn the engine off it slightly shudders before switching off.
I got warning light to top up coolant which has been done.
Checked the MAFs sensor, seems to be all good.
I've been reading some old posts which said that transmission fluid might be low but I never had this issue before, the gear engagement was perfect.
I am thinking it might be the throttle body, could anybody please provide any feedback/advice as to what else it might be.
I read up about resetting the throttle position and followed the steps to get it all done too. Still not change.
If you are wondering why don't I just leave it to my machanic. Yes, he will continue to diagnose the problem on Monday but he seemed a bit confused by the issue so I just thought to post hear and see if anybody could give me some pointers that might help. My mechanic generally doesn't do European cars, he has been great with all our Toyota's and Nissans over thr years.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
