Spark plugs from Ebay

Few months back I purchased 8 of A0041598103. Sold as original equipment marked as MB.

The seller is from China with 99.4% satisfaction. Only 1 review was saying fake.

Beware, I had to replace all after 3,000 KM and terrible misfires. Problems started right after installing them.
They are fake!

Happened to me once. I will not buy parts off of eBay or Amazon. If you check the Reddit subforum titled " just rolled into the shop", you'll read many horror stories about counterfeit parts.

I would never even buy windshield washer from fleebay - They advertise "It fits guaranteed!" instead of "products are guaranteed" (refund limited to price of puchase... damages excluded.

Original equipment and Bosch/etc. on those sites are all replicas and they should only be purchased from reputable sources.

Usually you can notice immediately when your idle needle isn't sitting perfectly on RPM's. While they might not introduce a misfire immediately, they definitely are not operating as they should.

Bought NGK plugs from evil bay years ago. Physically identical. Only give away was the box they came in and you really had to look to notice. Noticed this as I subsequently saw a review saying they were fake. Will never buy from ebay again. Reputable retailers only. Spark plug fraud is massive.

On fraudBay and Scamazon, I'd say that virtually all of the purportedly brand-new, "genuine" OEM and OE spark plugs, TPMS sensors, and several other popular categories of parts selling for a fraction of what they sell for from legitimate retailers (even RockAuto) are Chinese counterfeit (and not just from eBay sellers in China...some eBay sellers in Europe and the U.S. are also now peddling the counterfeit Chinese parts from what I can tell). An absurd state of affairs... On these modern engines requiring indexed plugs, I'd just shop around and get the genuine OE ones from an actual dealership, to be honest...

JUNK'S EVERYWHERE

there is an additional rule besides "no counterfeits"...
All essential parts should best be sourced as dealer items: pumps, CKP, Injectors,...

The "compatible" parts sold all around by the supply-chain businesses we trust have minimal quality grade.

-- The genuine Bosch plugs I got from FCP were machine-cut really poorly.
I had to file lips that would have caused firing issues.

-- One of the genuine Mercedes chain TENSIONERS I purchased from FCP had a lip on its back surface that would have prevented it from sealing oil pressure.
A very well packaged item in plastic bag in a card box, failed from factory.

-- Not all dealer parts are perfect either... like oil filters with plastic burrs ready to come off...

It's best to quickly evaluate every part prior to installing. No blind trust.

Even if you pay $25 each for MB plugs at a dealer, that's less than half a cent per mile for all 8 over the 50K mile service life. Why go cheap?

MB’s of all kinds.
I only buy from FCP Euro. Never had an issue with parts. Sorry to hear. Rock Auto is good too.

I have just done the serpentine belt/tensioner/idler pulley change (FCP Euro) and while I was at it, I pulled the Bosch plugs and cleaned then with a spark plug cleaner (using glass beads). The plugs are certainly 60k miles old. They were clean with no fouling and no wear at the tip as gaps were still .027. The cleaner gets down in the area between the plug and insulator, as well as the tip. Runs as if I put new plugs in it.

However, changing the driver's side bank is a PITA...particulary #6 as there's just no room to work.
