Remove original date stamp cap from battery terminal
I am attempting to change the original battery on my 2013 ML350. Watched a few videos and was all confident until I ran into what seems to be a date stamp on a lead terminal cap. Didn't seem to want to pop off easily and I didn't want to damage things going harder than I need.
Can someone tell me how to remove the original battery terminal toppers.
It's not that hard disconnect the - negative first, after you remove the nut from the battery thermal you can use a screwdriver to spread the battery clamp apart.
Did one for a friend 4 years ago, can no longer lift the weight had mine done 6mo ago by battery plus for $325 and they installed both batteries

Back in the day of ignorant youth, a buddy and I found a 12V car battery. And a length of logger chain.
We had great fun draping the chain across the battery posts, holding it there until the center link or 2 melted into slag on top of the battery.
By the third (4th?) meltdown, the battery was boiling. We didn't recognize that as being the case of course; we were young and dumb and did it again.
Didn't take long for the battery to be completely discharged and we moved on to other adventures, safely protected by something smarter than our own common sense.
