No there isn’t. A scanner is a great investment if you want to do a bit of maintenance on your car yourself. You also want to know why the light is on before it gets worse.
Sometimes the engine light will go off after a certain amount of drive cycles depending on the issue.

You can borrow an OBD scanner at some auto stores (such as AutoZone), scan for codes and reset the CEL. But a scanner is a tool every car owner should have.

You may not accomplish anything useful by clearing faults...

OBD scanner is a basic investigation tool to read your chassis 40+ computers.

The best practice is to be proactive with scheduled maintenance to stay ahead of big-ticket repairs.

In fact, I think MB should order them in bulk and either place them next to the manual in the glove compartment or in the trunk, near the spare tire.

Car manufacturers hate OBD scanners that give car owners diagnostic capability. That's why all the scanners are made in China and why car manufacturers still use 19th century idiot lights (CELs) instead of integrating OBD diagnostics into the nav screen user interface.
