2015 ML350, 2020 BMW X7, 2005 LS430
ML550 for 5K

Hi, I found a ML550 for sale, a 2014 for only 8K, and it runs and drives. It has the beautiful designo interior and is very highly optioned. The only thing that scares me is the fact that it has 180k miles. Do you think it's a good buy or to skip. I'm coming from a ML350 and it's much less complex compared to the ML550. Let me know your opinions. Also I don't know the service history of the car but the images make it seem like a cleanish car. Would 8K be too high? How about 6k?

Nothing is more expensive than a cheap Mercedes

saving $2000 off the asking price would make no difference at all if you end up having to put in $15,000 into this car over the next two years, what is your threshold for disruption of your quality of life and your monetary flow of cash towards this car and any ongoing maintenance or big repairs that may be incurred over the next two years? What are your thresholds?

Would it follow that nothing is more cheap than an expensive Mercedes?

A thorough pre purchase inspection would be money well spent. The reputation for scored cylinder walls is there and would be my first concern. State of the fluids (all of them) would be a close second. Rust? Where's the car from? Carfax? Scanned codes? Take it for a drive. Flog it like you stole it and listen closely to what the car is saying.

Unless you have the ability to DIY for everything it’s not worth it. You need to be a DIY personal for a project like that. Any pics?

You need a good or excellent PPI, or you may end up with a paperweight.

Could this be caused by accumulated pistons heat boiling coolant at engine stop ? What if heat could be normalized?
