oil change
-m

Jack car up on drivers side (oil drain is on passenger) and remove center pan cover only. Then put drain pan under plug and remove plug.. While oil is draining, remove top oil filter and put new filter in.. Put some teflon tape on oil drain plug and re-instal.. Fill engine with 8 qrts and then start adding the 9th while checking level.. Mine usually takes the full 9, if drained well.
This is the easiest car I have ever changed oil.. The top filter is great to work with..

My bad, they were out of Fram, so I used a WIX instead.. Just posted what I put in my car.. You can use a filter made out nanotechnology for all that matters.. Not pushing filters here , just answering the guys question that you seemed to pass over..

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
maintain any kind of relationship with MBUSA from a "product liability" view point.
The oil drain "plug" on the bottom of the engine requires a MB sourced copper
crucible washer that must be replaced every time that you undo/do the plug.
Using teflon tape in not approved and actually a risk for it does not allow the plug
[fastener in Eng. terminology] to seat correctly. The washer serves a dual function
of proper seating [crush torque] and ultimate oil seeping protection. Both MB parts
[filter and washer] are readily available and can be purchased wholesale on-line from original MB parts warehouses. Do not substitute and have a 150MPH surprise!
Whats the difference between an off the shelf washer and a mercedes one if they are both the same size ?
any chance you have a torque setting for the drain nut ?
Also where can one get oil filters online ?
The particular MB washer is made of a copper-bronze alloy that "crushes just so" when
seating the steel drain plug in the aluminium alloy sump. The accepted method to
install the plug is to tighten it until it is snug against the washer [without crushing the
washer] and then going a 5/8 turn tighter where the washer now crushes slightly and
take a set. If you have done this correctly, at the next oil change the washer that you have removed will be actually .0003" to .0005" thinner at the area of contact between
nut and sump. Go ahead and take a before and after measurement. The copper is what
gives you the final oil seepage protection, the bronze is what mitigates the difference in
expansion between the alloy sump and the steel plug when the engine goes through it
thermal cycle.
There are several MB authorized US dealers that advertise and sell wholesale on the net. Please pick-up a copy of Hemmings Motor News [monthly publication] or go to
their web site www.hemmings.com You can go to the MB section and find reputable
companies.
I hope this is useful to you. Above all, enjoy your MB !
Thanks for taking the time to explain things.
I'll have a look around and see what i can find for oil filters.
With Mercedes do you always need a part number or chasis number or people are happy to find things with a model and year ?

cheers
It is always handy to have the VIN as ultimate application. "Trust but verify".
Have a great New Year!
