is there an interval schedule to replace the abc and steering resevoir filters?
i have a 2004 cl600 with 75000 miles. just had front shock replaced by dealer. the listed the use of fluid in the repair bill, but no mention of a filter.
thanks

there is no interval on the abc filter. however when the fluid in the system is adjusted for repairs the filter should be changed at the same time

thanks for the answer. i know the dealer replaced fluid, but did not change the filter. should i change the filter without refilling the fluid, only topping it off if necesary after the filter change?
thanks

Yes it wouldn't be a bad idea to do that. If you haven't replaced one before its not to difficult but you have to overcome a spring that holds it down.

Kind of tough to describe... you have to press it in and twist it, kind of...

Just wear gloves because that hydraulic oil is nasty.

Oh and make sure that the cap/top of container are STERILE because you do not want to drop even the smallest bit of dirt into the tank.

ABC Filter Change

I had some work done on ABC, changed pump, and mechanic did not change fileter. The very expensive fluid began to come out of the reservoir 6 months later. Mechanic did not know why. It is a return filter to the reservoir, so not too much to figure out that the filter was too dirty for the returning fluid to get into the res. Pulled the filter, it was black. Use spray brake cleaner on the housing before removing filter. Do not top it up, follow the dip stick marks. I replaced the power steering filter at the same time in the lower housing.

You can get orig equip from Autopartswarehouse as follows (about 60% of what MB wants):
Part #: W0133-1855915
2001-2011 Mercedes Benz CL600 OES Genuine Suspension Filter Suspension Filter CL600|Base
OES Genuine
Qty: 1.00
Price: $ 35.95
