03 CL600 bi-Turbo Muffler delete, now drone in cabin.
First sorry about the typo on title. tried fixing but won't let me.

I am new here, before joining I tried all search options and found a wealth of info on exhaust, decided I wanted a little better sound out of my car.

First tried the resonater delete :
Result; Not much of a difference.

Second : Muffler delete on top of resonater delete.
Result; Sound is great at idle, and when you get on the throttle it is even better...

Problem... There is a Drone in the car that is driving me crazy... In pursuit to get red of the drone I installed the resonators back on the car, It helped "maybe" but of course the drone is still there... Very Noticeable crusining between 40-75 mph. specially pronounced around 1500 rpm. Also noticeable in de-celaration.

It is more like Hummmmmmming. Do you all with eisenmann and or kleemann or renntech and or other brand name exhaustsystems still get drone in the car? (In cabin)

I have a pair of Magnaflow mufflers I can install but before doing so I want to see if the drone is from the straight pipes or other muffler systems have the same syptoms. I just don't want to waste any more time and money at this point.

I would rather have the car back to stock instead of living with drone on the car, since there is no performance increases that can be noticable... Just wanted it to sound a little better after hearing all videos on line, but without the drone.

Remove all exhaust and install straight through magnaflows in the back and you will get the perfect sound without any drone at all.

i wanted to remove the resonators on my 2003 cl600 but am worried about it sounding like a muscle car. I hate that sound. i want it to sound expensive. Did the resonator delete by itself cause the drone aswell ? would u recommend the resonator removal for me? i dont want much of a difference and def no gargle noise. what did it sound like for you man i need ur help i need to do something!

In my experience deleting just resonators made a very small difference. I did notice the sound was a little deeper but not much difference. Almost like nothing changed. Stock mufflers do a very good job of quiting the exhaust down. .

Deleting the mufflers gave me drone.

I am in the process of getting the Magnaflow 3" in 3" out 4" straight through mufflers. This should be a nice sound and hopefuly no drone.

I do plan on having a full exhaust fabricated out of 304 Stainless and tig welded pipes. Possibly a hi-Flow cat as well. As soon as my fabricator frees up, customers come first.

I agree and it is something I am considering however, I believe there may be 2 issues with that. 1 most important, cel light coming on after cat delete for emissions. And 2 noise level going considerably louder.

I removed every cat and resonator on both my cars and put straight through magnaflow mufflers on them. The car is quite and does not drone at all. What you guys are forgetting is that these are not normally aspirated engines, they are turbo charged. These tiny turbo's muffle the exhaust a LOT. All that is needed is one pair of straight through magnaflows and that is it. Your car will run much better and only be marginally louder. I may go out with my camera and take a video for you non believers out there.

I put O2 eliminators on the car and I get the light to come on once every two weeks. I use the scanner and erase the "convertor low efficency" code.

O2 eliminators... Meaning No O2 sensors... Or o2 Simulator.
What do you do when time comes for inspction?

Also
For those using magnaflow...

Just trying to decide between

part # 14419 4" round
or
part # 12867 5" round SS .. or 14867 Polished

Dynodaddy,
This will be my next modification for certain, but I need to get it right the first time.
I would love to see a video of your vehicle driving....
It will help me decide if removing the primaries (and replacing them with hi flow, 300 cell cats is a good option in addition to removing the secondaries and mufflers. Then adding hi flow (straight through) Magnaflow mufflers....

Thanks.

O2 extenders is actually what I have. The secondary O2's are still in there.

The only video I have of the car is at the track, and it will not let me post the video on here. Email me at joseph.barrett@live.com and I will send you what videos I have.

High pitched hum is turbo whine. Low pitched is exhaust drone. Which are you having? I have stock exhaust and can hear the turbo whine fairly well at cruise with some throttle.
