I was at my dealership today...
I was at my dealership today and was talking to the General Manager; I asked if they will be receiving any Maybachs in the near future and he told me that this dealership won't be selling Maybachs because any Mercedes-Benz dealership that wants to sell the Maybach has to pay an upfront fee of 10 million dollars to Daimler Chrysler just so they have the rights to sell the Maybach name.
This means that there will be very few Maybach dealerships in the USA, or even the world for that matter. Only the extremely large Mercedes-Benz dealerships will be selling the Maybach, I was told that only three dealerships in all if North America will be selling the Maybach; two in the USA and 1 in Canada. I didn't find out who those dealerships were though.

I'm not sure about the dollar amount that must be paid to get the rights to sell the cars, but I do know that any dealer who gets the opportunity must dedicate several thousand square feet of showroom space for the pre-fab. boutique and have one Sales Rep. that is the only person responsible for assisting potential clients.

If u have to pay 10 million to be a maybach dealer and u make 20% on a car which is extremely high then your breakeven is 166 cars based on average selling price of 300,000, and that does count paying salesman lights etc. That figure seems very high unless it is the price of building the seperate facilities they want.

I woulda never guessed
that West Covina MB would be one of the VERY few to get a Maybach license.
The San Gabriel Valley is hardly a hot spot for upper end cars, homes, etc.
Seems the better market demand would more likely be that Maybachs will sell at either Fletcher Jones MB in Newport Beach or at MB of Laguna Niguel.
Just my .02

Penske is huge! I could not believe it when I saw it for the first time. They do a lot of high-end sales to the Asian crowd of businessmen and lots of sports figures from what I here. The Aston-Martin dealership will also bring in the Maybach crowd. It got a confirmation of them being a Maybach dealer in a magazine they send out every once in a while.

everyone also has to keep in mind that MB will not be "mass producing" these vehicles. I have info relayed to me from my business partner in Germany. He spoke with an insider and was told that MayBach WORLDWIDE production will not gross more than 1,000 - 1,500 units PER YEAR. That is worldwide...
He has purchased (5) in Germany, and we have already sold one to a businessman in Israel.
The other (4) will be rolling in starting in November, and then through out the year.
If anyone is interested in one, please let me know. We can have it here for you 1 week after delivery in Germany

You have to remember, besides being HUGE, Penske, and the owner, also own and manage Longo Toyota/Lexus... they also own and manage a couple of other dealerships w/o the Penske name.

I missed this thread the first time around, but that ten million dollars thing is not right. I think it is close to a half million, but that includes the special office for it and special service bay. If it was ten million dollars, I can assure you that my dealer would not be selling them, but they are. And there are two other dealers within a 2 hour drive that will be selling them also, so there are way more than 3 for all of North America.

I think you mixed up a little bit. I was informed that the number was closer to 1,000,000 for the space and equipment and there was another large number but that was a DEPOSIT and they would get it back once they met certain requirements.

EuroMotor Cars in Bethesda, MD will...
be selling the Maybach. Euro currently has Mercedes-Benz, Rolls Royce, and Bentley franchises. It makes sense that the RR and Bentley salesroom will go. One of the Maybach sales "consultants" (or whatever the official Daimler-Chrysler euphemism is for salesman) is Randy Merry. There's one other, but his name escapes me. There was a blurb about both in the dealership's recent newletter sent to its customers.
