WOW Seen on the road!
I was driving through Richmond Park last Thursday lunch time saw this car coming towards me with a really bad Japanese looking grill.
But as I said the rear doors looked very long. Perhaps the car is well proportioned so it dosen't look as big as it is. I guess it didnt have the hieght and width I expected. Just had a quick look at a couple of sites S500 is 5038mm a lwb is 120mm (4.7inches) more so 5158mm. A Maybach 57 is 5730mm and a Maybach 62 6270mm. So by my math I make a Maybach 62 about 1232mm (4 foot) longer than a S500 swb.
You've got that right! Japanese grille! Good one

I understand how a twenty or thirty year old car would be worth a lot less than a brand new one. Unless we are discussing seriously rare and special models(Ferrari's, Porsche 959, etc..), pretty much every car depreciates. However, based upon M-B's history with their special vehicles, depreciation is very slow, and isn't likely to fall below certain levels.
1992-93 MB 500E's still command 20-25k. What were they brand new? Maybe 70ish? That's still holding about thirty percent after eleven years. 1979 6.9's still go for about 10k or so, after twenty-four years! I don't think you'll ever see a Maybach for $5k unless it was in a very bad fire, and had already been parted out.
