Update

I thought i would give all of you an update on how the Maybach is fairing now that i have lived with it for a couple of months. I have made an effort to drive it myself. However, i have given up in city driving it is simply too large to be enjoyable so i have left this to my driver. There has been one minor accident, the first was not his fault as a courier on a bike took off the right side mirror, mercedes had a replacement flown in within 48 hours. I have however taken it for a few drives on the freeway, i can not find a single flaw for a car of this size handling is great, it is now my favourite cruiser, as a result the gallardo has been gathering dust in the garage.

The fit and finish have shown no signs of any problems however the drivers seat requiers regualr cleaning due to the tan leather i choose. It can get quite dirty very quickly however it comes up like new in a few minutes. However, i am not sure how well it will fair in the long-term.

So far 10/10. Will be sending it in for its first service in about three more months, will be interested to see the cost.

Now I would have thought that since you own three Mercedes, you would know that the first (and many more) service on S Class cars (and Maybachs) is free. So how is it that you are interested in the cost of the first service?

Could it be because you never had a Mercedes serviced? Could that be because you don't own any, and your list of owned cars is just a fantasy?

I would appreciate it if you would more carefully consider the facts before you reply to an individuals post. If you failed to notice I live in Hong Kong and Sydney and not in North America. As such I fail to see how you could be aware of what is and isnt included in the purchase of a new vehicle. I am not entitled to a free first service on any of my Mercedes or BMW vehicles. From what I am aware this is only offered to individuals who are a part of the corporate privileges plan, which I am not. I simply posted my experiences with my vehicle so as to assist any individual who may be considering purchasing the vehicle.

I saw a maybach 62 last night in HK and it was so odd, like i was in a comercial of some sort. The car has so much appeal and class without really showing off how bloody rich you have to be to afford one.

As Maybach pointed out, MB in North America has been unique in covering service costs during the US warranty period (4 years), which btw. is also about twice as long as the MB warranty in other places in the world.

The unfortunate reality, of course, is that this benefit coming/has come to an end in the US as well starting with 2005 models.

I keep all of the cars listed in Sydney. I am only in Hong Kong about three months of the year so I just keep an 00' S430L there and it only has about 4000K's on it. Although I think a Gallardo in HK would be wasted. I have always wondered if there are any good drives through the New Territories or over the boarder?

No I wasn't aware of these Sunday Morning Drives. I have only been a resident of HK for 3 years. The only places I have driven are between The Peak, Admiralty and Central. The one occassion I ventured to Kowloon I didn't make it past the Peninsula. I dont yet feel like a local as I rarely have leisure time when I'm in town.

As for my experiences with the Gallardo all I can say is that I didn't even intend on buying the vehicle when i went for a test drive, within five minutes and some persuading from Grevile Bogard at the Sydney dealership I was ready to take one. Its really the only vehicle in its class that I can relax while driving and still have a great time!

I ordered it in Metallic Yellow with black interior and E-Gear box. Otherwise it is entirely standard. I would post a pic but i dont own a digital camera. I will see if one of my children can take a couple of pictures.

I’m sorry if I do not understand exactly what you are trying to communicate as I am not familiar with your vernacular. To answer your question I prefer to use traditional cameras and am not comfortable using a digital camera. I am not of your generation. To give you an idea one of the reasons I purchased my car was the fact that my father owned one of the original Maybach’s when I was a child. However, as I have mentioned in response to requests for pictures I intend on having one of my children, who does own a digital camera, take some for you to enjoy. I simply use this forum to communicate my ownership experience and the joy I derive from this car with other owners and enthusiasts. It may come as no surprise to you that I hold no concern for the opinions or beliefs of individuals such as yourself.

Its patently obvious you have not even bothered to read this thread.

For the record, the RRP of the cars maybach has in Australia is actually over $AUD3million...

Until very recently there was only one maybach in Aus, a 62 in Sydney, so it is certainly not impossible, however surprising, that its owner occasionally frequents this forum.

In any event, since when did digital camera pictures prove anything?

a picture can tell a story and with the paint job he has metalic yellow??? that not a color Mercedes Maybach would make unless special order, and yet all he had to do is take pic with car and him holding a sign that says "MBWORLD.ORG/MAYBACH" but yet all that is really not needed however i truely dont believe he owns LAMBO'S ROVERS MAYBACH ECT ECT i really dont!plus its not really needed to own all thoses.

The yellow paint was in reference to the Gallardo... try reading the thread before posting, huh?

Although I did see a taxi yellow W211 E320 the other day - what sort of person would buy such a car!?

As for who needs all those cars... Who NEEDS a Mercedes-Benz? Want is an entirely different matter.

I would like to make clear that I do not use this forum to 'brag' as stated by BenzKid24. I use the forum for the same reasons as virtually every other member to share my experiences with other enthusiasts. I do not mean to be pretentious but I am not surprised in the least by BenzKid24's crass remarks. I found your personal attacks entirely unnecessary. I would normally ignore such comments however in this instance I would like to point out that it has taken me over fifty years of hard work to be able to be in the position to indulge myself with such a substantial collection of vehicles. I would also like to point out that most of the vehicles I own are driven by my wife and children as well as my household staff.

You speak as if you have achieved so much. I suspect your attitude is typical of the children of the upper middle class who seem to believe that the marginal wealth of their parents entitles them to act as they please.

If any one has any questions pertaining to my vehicle I would be more than happy to assist.

Hi you guys are pretty immature, I know for a fact that Maybach owns one of the very limited numbers of Maybachs in Sydney and has been a long time connoisseur of the mercedes brand. I think you guys should have a little faith and respect for such a person willing to let us all know about such an interesting vehicle.
