No only one was made, the look of the gap on the cladding was too obvious. thats why you dont see a factory painted white ML55 or Sport. Autogunner.

Wow that is very odd, how much different would it be in white than in silver?

Yeah we have one in our area to but I know its not real, the black gap on a white surface especially at the bottom front and rear of the cladding was very noticable. Silver has black in it so it is not as noticable. Autogunner.

just check the hood and the exhaust. Only the ML55 has the power-buldge hood and dual exhaust.

oh yeah, and the red caliper.

I have seen a white ML55 (I thought it was), but it was just an ML430 and someone added the AMG kit. Someone also spray painted it red... it wasn't in the best neighborhood lol.

Easy way to tell, if you get close enough in USA it will have an internal spare tire mounted inside the liftgate on the left side. When people add these other items they usually dont add this. The spare is in the because on ML55's they have an extra gas tank where the spare normally is, under the floor, they had to add that tank to make it go 300 miles, that is required by some goverments. So you can also look under there to see if it has the extra tank, All ML55's have it. Autogunner.

No it is two tanks, one the regular size, then there is a rubber hose that runs to the smaller one that is where the spare tire normally is, I beleive it holds three gallons. Autogunner.

Just one? You must be referring to the ML55 that was auctioned off for charity at the factory back in 1999. It was pearl white with chrome or polished alloys.

That was the weekend they let us drive ML55s on the infield track at Talladega Superspeedway, before the first 55 was delivered

Hello Autogunner

I am driving a ML55, and I have no spare wheel at all (just a tyre fit kit) - and as well there is NO space below the floor in the cargo compartment. I can not even lift anything in this area !

The capacity of my tank is 93 liters ( dont know how many gallons -sorry) - is the tank bigger in the United States ??

Thank you for your reply

kind regards from France

Walter

Yes, your ML55 has the additional tank. 93 liters is around 25 gallons. pre 02 MLs had a 19 gallon tank while the 02+ have 22 gallon tanks. Only the 55s have the 25 gallon tank.

Thats correct, you get the can of fix a flat in France and many other ECE countries. It "fix a flat" is against the law in some states in America and other countries and thats why we get the tire and air pump. Autogunner.

In those states in the US where the tire fit is illegal, was the 2003 E55 not sold? How about the SLKs that don't have a spare? Etc.

Or do they just remove the tire fit kit before delivery, which would make more sense... but still not explain "why we get the tire and air pump".
