MB CLK-GTR more info??

See the car in the backround? Nope, thats not a CLK-GTR! That is a CLK-LM, that is what is replacing the CLK-GTR in Le Mans and whatnot in result of the whole CLK-GTR flip a few years ago ('99 I beleive).
1997 CLK-GTR...V12 powered....this is the basis for the Street Version...Bernd Schneider won the FIA GT Championship in this car.
1998 CLK-LM...(officially called LM to denote the engine change)...V8 powered...has modified aero package and air inlets. this was the most successful version due to body modifications and lighter engine. Klaus Ludwig won the FIA GT Championship...crushing all competition.
1999 CLR ......V8...this is the more radical all new design version that Mercedes had so many problems with at Le Mans....oddly because it was tested very extensively before hand...over 21,000 miles including a 30hr test at Magny Cours...the problems seemed to from some of the unique characteristics of the bumps at LM and loss of down force due to traffic. Front end modeled after the new CL rather than the CLK.
Some of the Specs on the V12 street version:
0-62mph....3.2sec
0-124......9.9sec
top speed 199mph (Marc Webber pushed one to 205)
V12...6898cc
48valve DOHC
612bhp @ 6800rpm
572ft lb torque @5250rpm
I like the tire Specs:
Front 295/35ZR18
Rear 345/35ZR18
Chassis: Carbon fibre monocoque built by Lola
Ground clearance of race version 1.5in! street: 4in.
Remarkable is that this heavy car at 3240 lbs is almost pefect match (except for top speed) to the 730 lbs lighter McLaren F1.
There was one CLK stock item on the car...the taillights!
The pictures above are of a CLK-GTR (fore ground) and CLR (background)
I will post pictures of all three in a few days
