Mika Häkkinen

Today Mika Häkkinen stated that he will not make a comeback to F1. So next year will the other Flying Finn - Iceman - Kimi Räikkönen continue. He will be a hard match for Michael Schumacher.

The Finn will win the titel.

This could be a great debate... I think that JPM, RB or DC (in that order) would have a better chance to win the title over Kimi... provided they all convince MS to sit out the season, first?

I think it would be RB, DC, KR or JPM in third.

KR has in all of the qualifications of this season been quicker than DC. KR is McLarens number one, so I'd place him over DC.

That all depends on whether KR could keep the car on track (making no mistakes) and whether M-B can provide a better package than Ferrari and Williams BMW.

My picks, if MS sat out would be RB, RS, FM/ Nick Heidfeld (Felipe Massa-MS stand in), KR/DC maybe JPM.

Unfortunately for RB, he was once again screwed by the Ferrari team! as was RS by Williams. KR screwed up by keeping the crappy Michelin tyres for the distance. KR's blow out was inevitable. Haven't the knobs at the Mclaren M-B team learnt from history that the Michelin tyres are crap! The result of the team fiascos was JPM being handed a second place position he did not deserve. He so much admited this in the post race interview. It should have been MS, RS, RB

I guess it's not much of a suprprise that Hakkinen isn't coming back. I think KR will get better as time goes on and learn more and more and just become a better driver. DC's performances just aren't consistent. One day he will win the race, the next he will just come in 6th. JPM seems to be doing really well, him and RS keep doing really well, seems like they're always in the top 4.

I think after MS retires the championship battles will likely be between Williams and McLaren. I think that when MS goes, Todt, Bryne and Brawn will probably not be far behind. MS is the lens that keeps Ferrari in focus - once he's gone I predict Ferrari's fortunes will wane.

RB will never be World Champion.

I also don't think Ralf will be either. He usually qualifies well, but lately he simply fades during the race. It's got to the point when watching the race I don't really consider him a factor, other than an obstacle for the McLarens to get around at somepoint during the race. He only finishes well if the other drivers have problems (Malaysia and Germany). JPM will win Williams' next title.

DC has a slim chance for a title if McLaren can return to form before KR gets fully up to speed (so to speak ). However, I think that KR will win the next title for McLaren (probably after JPM wins for Williams).

Here are my predicitions for the next few Championships:

2003: MS
2004: JPM
2005: JPM or KR
2006: KR

Your mileage may vary.

Cheers, BT

You should take to considiration the new great guys also, Webber, Massa and Button. I think that those guys plus Räikkönen and JPM will be the winners in the future - after MS (not Mika Salo) and other Ferrari people retires.
