Montoya not interested in driving for Ferrari

Juan Pablo Montoya says he is not interested in a drive with Michael Schumacher at Ferrari next season , unless he can be No.1.

"Going to Ferrari does not turn me on right now for the simple fact that Michael is number one and has that status laid down in his contract, He has the whole team working for him so there would be nothing to gain going there and having an inferior car" . Montoya said.

Well he has a point! But at the same time if you want to get to the top you have to be under someone for sometime, the way he is going is good too, he is just going to take longer, IMO

I think sticking with WilliamsBMW will probably be smarter. I've said this before, but once Schumacher leaves Ferrari, I think Todt, Brawn and Bryne won't be far behind - there will then be a drastic drop in Ferrari's competiveness.

I agree with trench completely, unless Todt, Brawn and Byrne feel some loyalties for Rubens.

Read that BMW is going full Works in '04. Maybe they'll make good use of the power the engines are putting out. McLaren has a good chassis but the MB engines are only now starting to be competitive. It would've been nice to see 3 teams battling from the start.

Actually, Williams-BMW is not going full works. BMW is making a marketing agreement with Williams to call the car a BMW (dropping the Williams from the name); the current management of the team and design of the car will remain with Frank Williams and Patrick Head (who are the sole owners of Williams - Williams owns 85% and Head 15%). At the end of the contract the car will revert to being a Williams (unless they decide to extend the agreeement - or Williams and Head sell the team, of course ).

Cheers, BT

PS: DaimlerChrysler does own 40% of the McLaren F1 team.

What can you do? I read yesterday that BMW is going to protest Ferrari's plan to use some exotic alloys - I think that is fair play since Ferrari managed to get Beryllium banned putting MB in a horsepower deficiency hole for a couple of years. By the way, did you hear the Gerhard Berger is leaving BMW? I think he has did a good job in his position.

Cheers, BT

PS: Nice avatar - cool shot of your car in the Corkscrew. Was that part of an SCCA or NASA track day? I've looked some into going to one of the NASA events - looks like a lot of fun for a reasonable price.

Nope. That sucks. I thought he was doing a great job.

Thx. It was actually a BMW DE. I did a few with NASA at Willow Springs but some of those guys are a little too nutty to be on the track with but you get tons of track time. Usually, most of the BMW instructors teach at the NASA events.
