Bahrain.... THE RACE !

Great job Kimi!! Finishing 3 from 22nd, heck of a job. Nice safe race, too. Love to see that. 3rd and 5th in the first race of the season. Go McLaren M-B!

such a great race. I am really impressed that kimi was able to start from dead last and make his way onto the podium. Goes to show you what he would have been capable of had his car not gotten all screwed up during qualifying. But hopefully next weekend we'll see him on the top step of the podium.
McLaren is now tied with Renault for first place in the constructors championship thanks to Montoya. Can't wait till next week.
Anyone else like Kimi's comment at the end? "We started from 22nd and from there we knew we could score some points." I hope the competition is worrying lol

It's relatively clear the McLaren will run well (if not dominate) with any fuel load. My opinion is not tied to the Mercedes connection, either. They have always been a race strategy team. They'll have to make hay this year if the rumor is true and Raikkonen goes to Ferrari next year. (Have a nice retirement, Michael)
I was very impressed with Nico Rossberg. 7th place and 2 points in his first GP. That puts him in some very exalted company. He'll be driving for one of the top four teams by next year, easily. Who knows, if Raikkonen does leave, maybe McLaren will boot Montoya too, and build a really strong combo with Alonso and Rossberg. Or, Rossberg will take Alonso's seat at Renault. Too early to speculate for sure, I suppose.
Also, nice to see Scott Speed finish, and in 13th, ahead of Ralf, Rubens, etc. Only overshadowed by Rossberg among the newbies, imo.
Button had a good race, as well... About time. This is his put up or shut up year...
Taking a nap, now...

Just finished watching the race (could not do 2 early weekend mornings in a row)... pretty exciting race! To me the highlights are Nico Rosberg and Toro Rosso.

[QUOTE=kostas]really? you dont think kimi going from 22nd to 3rd was a highlight?
Yeah but it wasn't really unexpected. In fact, any of the top 4 guys (MS, FA, KR, JPM) will do pretty much the same without too much problems, and it's been weel proven with the 10 position penalties last year.

****in awesome race...
worth stayin up till 6am for sure.
after kimis quali accident the only thing i was hoping for is to see that the mclaren is actually competitive, kimi showed that they have the pace and more
am i the only 1 that thinks mclaren were sandbaging until the race
jpm pissed me off, it looked like he was out for a sunday drive.
rosberg will kill webbers career.

Well, JPM was complaining about his engine being slower than Kimi's all weekend and even requested an engine change (unsuccessfully of course). If you see how Button twice got around Montoya with apparent ease at the end of the straights, but could could not do the same to Kimi (or even catch up at straights), then maybe JPM's story has something to it. In the official comments he just said he had an off weekend.

the commentators kept saying how the engines have to last 2 weekends... now, is that true? because I remember someone somewhere showed me in the rules that they can change engines every week
can someone clarify for me

87) a) Each driver may use no more than one engine for two consecutive Events in which his team competes.
-blue Should a driver use a replacement engine before the end of the qualifying practice session he will drop ten places on the starting grid at that Event each time a further engine is used. Unless the driver fails to finish the race (see below) the engine fitted to the car at the end of the Event must remain in it until the end of the next.
RED -Any driver who failed to finish the race at the first of the two Events for reasons beyond the control of the team or driver, may start the second with a different engine without a penalty being incurred.
