Macas and BMW to change rear wing

Has anyone heard about this...it's weird how these 2 teams were part of the 8 who sign the petition agaisnt Ferrari, and now they have to revise their rear wing, and for the macas also their mirrors. I wonder whats going on with the Renualts.

Keep in mind that the FIA requests revisions all the time, every season, from many teams. It does not mean that it was the same kind of flexing wing issue.

Actually, the wing that is currently in question is the front wing on the Ferrari... yes there is also question over the rear wing on the ferrari... but the wing that the second petition is about is the front wing. The front wing cameras in Malaysia told it all as far as the Ferrari wing, that middle element was flexing/moving in and out like crazy!

It passed FIA test, therefore it should be legal. Cmon every team has flexings aero parts...its jsut who does it best in a more discrete way...you should know that by now....and ill leave it at that...im out for my daily night drive peace !

I really can't find solid information on the Ferrari front wing, does anyone have a link that shows it in one shape versus another?

I just saw the Malaysian race. Sucks on how BMW teams were having issues (or was it Cosworth?).

I was really disappointed to see Kimi out so early. I've heard so much from him and I think it would've been a much closer race if he were in until the end.

The wing spreads causing the "Ground Effect".

The lower the wing is to the ground, the less air pressure and hence less drag.

i hope that helps

I saw the wing coming out from the front nose but I thought that was just poor workmanship.

Is that all they are talking about?

Well you see, techniquely-it’s not suppose to move…the FIA does ‘weight’ test on the wings- so they won’t flex. Now the wing ‘moves’ at higher speeds, causing less drag= higher top speed and less drag therefore faster acceleration as well. In the turns, the wing flex back inwards, which gives the front more down force in the turns where you need it. I think Ferrari said, this wing will improve their times .3 to .5 tenths of a second per lap, which is a lot in formula 1. But yes, that’s what all the fuz is about…you cant have moving wings-and this wing appears to be moving-BUT it passed the FIA test therefore it should be legal, but many teams are going nuts because it flexes. Wink wink, the Macas and Renaults mirrors-again same concept...
