Man, it's hard to beat racing in the wet for suspense! Great to see some new faces on the podium - congrats to Jenson/Pedro/Nick!

Has anyone read anywhere about what technical problem sidelined MS's Ferrari? That had to be his first DNF in several seasons.

In the post-race interviews, Heidfeld mentioned the Schuey ran into the back of him and the steering/suspension failure was a result of that. Unfortunately, Speed was evidently running a commercial during the mishap.

Further specifics on the Schumacher incident from:

http://www.grandprix.com/race/r763raceincidents.html

* Lap 66: De le Rosa passes Schumacher for second. Michael is immediately attacked by Heidfeld. Further back tenth-placed Trulli goes out with a big engine failure.

* Lap 67: Heidfeld and Schumacher clash at the chicane. Schumacher damages his front wing and has to retire in the pits.

Very crazy race! I was shocked with Buttons win! I think he would have won the race regardless if Fonzi would have finished or not. He was closing in FAST.

Championship standings:
WDC -10
WCC -7

almost there!

Obviouslt the most entertaining race of the season, hope it would rain for the rest of the season. Tough luck for the championship rivals, However Button got to the end and thats why he was able to win, without all these events i beleive he wouldnt have won. Comgratulations Jenson, Hope to see him more often on top of the podium.

Can any one please tell me why Alonso wasnt penalized for overtaking under the yellow flags during the opening laps of the race?

I think it was obvious, Schumacher got too greedy. Knowing that his tires were in bad shape and that Alonso was out, he should have let Heidfeld pass and finish the race 4th. It was his chance to get 5 points closer to Alonso.

I felt bad for Alonso because it was pure bad luck, but Shumachers misfortune was because of his wrong doing!

So WTF happened to Alonso. I'm watching the race, two of my cats start fighting, I break up the fight and Alonso is nowhere to be seen?

Many driver's reputations are built up by great rain drives. Alonso went from 15th to a 40 second lead ahead of 2nd place in 20 laps, only to be erased by the safety car and then the DNF. If that's not great, I don't know what is (and don't say it was the tyres because many others were on the same tyres)

Alonso is a great driver no doubts! I hope he does some good work for McLaren next year as well. Or perhaps I should say that I hope McLaren would give him a fast and reliable car so that he can do the same as well.

One word, REWIND. At first it was put done to a loose wheel nut. But subsequently, it has been disclosed that there was a drive shaft failure. So the Wheel man can breath a little easier.

I agree that MS should have let both DLR and Heidfeld by without protest... easy to settle for 4th or 5th, rather than out of points altogether (He should thank Kubica for the DQ point, but of course he's above that).

Alonso is becoming a great driver. If only he can overcome his inflating ego, that gets worse by the day. Waving your fist at every corner, and brake-checking other drivers cause they won't park their cars and let you by is childish... reminiscent of the Rene Arnoux and early Senna days. IMO, I think the penalties served before the start were good calls, and made for a more exciting race.

Both Alonso and Schumacher are having problems with their egos getting in the way of their driving...

Agreed. Most notable is Senna's 1993 European GP win @ Donington Park. Starting from 5th place, Senna was in P1 by the end of the first lap ON SLICKS. At one point he had lapped the entire field and was the only car on the lead lap.

Thanks MB-BOB. Rewind, what's that? I'm still old school, no Tivo, VCR or DVD recorder.

It was a heck of a fight, I've got two young females trying to establish dominance.

Its unforseen incidents like this that remind me of why I dislike Kimi so much.

Recall that kimi said about 6 races into the season that he had already lost the ability to win the WDC. Look how MS has battled back, to get in contention of the WDC.

Plus you have other teams outside of the big three getting results.

Man this is a good season.

Ohh and for any of you that car, I think I may have to watch some of Montoya's Nascrap races.

What Schumacher did is was seperates Champions from jsut regular drivers IMO.

Justin, try looking in youtube or google, you can get the whole race/interviews there. I will look for some for you-but internet has been wack lately.
