Tell the Speed Channel that you're sick of Nascar!
After doing a lot of research, the main man at the Speed Channel is Lou D'Ermilio. Please send him an e-mail and tell him that you're sick of Nascar and would like to see the same type of programming that was on Speedvision before the Fox takeover. Tell him you want to see more ALMS, Classic F1 races, Touring Car Races, DTM, etc. Be sure that he knows you want to see programming other than Nascar.
I told him that the Speed Channel should be renamed to the Nascar Channel, lol.
The e-mail address is: loud@fox.com

You can do that but it won't accomplish anything other than possibly making you feel better. Fox has a contract with NASCAR which stipulates that Speed Channel will show 96 hours of NASCAR programming per week.

They're are plenty of worse things on Speed, anyway. Who watches ski-jet racing and all of those weak boat and hot-rod shows? The main thing I've noticed since the Fox buy-out is they don't replay things as much, their live coverage is about the same. Hopefully the touring car racing returns again in the fall, remember that's spring down under (ATCC), as it did last year (they also showed the DTM in the fall as well). If those two are gone, then I'll be pissed. The only thing that's missing from the summer coverage is the BTCC SuperTourers, which I have to admit is nowhere near as good as it's late 90's hayday (therefore I don't really miss it at all).

The thing that really ticks me off about the Speed channel is that during a Formula One weekend, they will reshow the Friday practice again later in the day or sometime that night, however they never reshow Saturday qualifying! I would imagine it would be the other way around.

I agree with trench. I'd like to see them boot jet-ski racing, drag boat racing, the marine maintenance shows, etc. (see a pattern) before they dump NASCAR.
Objectively speaking, there are 100 NASCAR fans for every F1 enthusiast in the US. I really don't blame SPEED for any NASCAR focus. If it means they make lots of money and can then afford Bernie's contract demands for F1 rights then I'm all for it.
Remember a few years ago? Two days before the F1 season would start, you would still not know who would carry F1, if at all? ESPN, then ESPN2, FOX, or Speedvision? I remember one season, we missed the first few F1 races until one of the nets got off their butts and signed up. Remember? Bottom line, if NASCAR is the cash cow that allows SPEED to afford to buy the F1 US rights, then I'm cool with that.

On the guide on my DirecTV it only shows qualifying at 7am and the next F1 related even is the next morning for the race. This has been for every GP this season, not just belgium.

several times this year at noon or 1 ET. If you've been a Direct customer or Speed viewer for long, you know you can't count on the guide for accuracy. And hey, unless you're on the left coast, quit being lazy and get up at 7 with the rest of us die hards!

I wake up at 6:30 so I have enough time to put on my McLaren shirt, hat, and to get out my West flag .

I have a friend who not only wakes up to watch the races, but has a "racing cage" built with steering wheel and a copy of F1 200* with his PS2 to run the full race along with the real drivers. THat's even a step further than busting out the flag et al.

I don't actually have a race cage, I just have a wheel that I hookup to my computer desk and pedals that go under it .

I recall reading somewhere that a computer gaming company was going to have a subscription internet service to link their computer game to a live hookup (using telemetry from the track) to allow gamers to participate in an actual race as it was happening. I can't recall which type of racing this was actually for though, either NASCAR, CART or F1). It was probably NASCAR as this would be the easiest (less complicated to map everything onto an oval).

It was for the IRL, you can actually buy the program for 5 bucks in the bargain bin at Electronics Boutique.
