Italian GP - Guessing Game

The F1 Circus moves to Monza this weekend for the Italian Grand Prix.

Last year's pole position was Juan Pablo Montoya's 1m22.216s. Assuming a dry qualifying session what is your guess for this year's pole (driver/time)?

My guess: MS at 1m20.650s.

My guess for the Italian GP pole : MS at 1'20.675"

Race podium: MS, JPM, RB

By the way, the reason we were so far off in guessing the pole for the Belgian GP is that there was a slight redesign of the track that altered the entrance to the Bus-Stop Chicane, this reduced the lap time by a couple of seconds.

Cheers, BT

Boy, we're only 25 thousandths apart...

trench, I'm sure you meant to say the EXIT to the bus-stop chicane, right? The entrance seemed to be as before, but the exit was widened considerably. Not that the cars didn't hop the old curb on the exit, anyway.

Also, the Speed Channel announcers noted that several parts of the track had been topcoated, resulting in a stickier surface in those areas. They mentioned a process similar to that used to groove the oval at Indy, but I didn't hear all of it. I probably have it wrong...

My real estimate was 1'20.690", so I erred on the low side to slip one through the five-hole if necessary.

Oops, you are correct, sir. They changed the exits of the Bus-Stop and Eau Rouge (I just remembered that the drivers didn't like the latter change because it made it easier to take it flat). I imagine that making it easier to go through Eau Rouge flat, combined with the resurfacing probably helped the lap times about the same (if not more) as the change at the exit of the Bus-Stop (where I think most of the reduction in circuit length occured - around 22.5 m).

Cheers, BT
