Is McLaren guilty or has no involvement spying on Ferrari?
"McLaren became aware on the 3rd July 2007 that a senior member of its technical organisation was the subject of a Ferrari investigation regarding the receipt of technical information. The team has learnt that this individual had personally received a package of technical information from a Ferrari employee at the end of April.
Whilst McLaren has no involvement in the matter and condemns such actions it will fully co-operate with any investigation. The individual has in the meanwhile been suspended by the company pending a full and proper investigation of the matter.
No further comment will be made.
"
In view of the current investigation presently underway involving former Ferrari employee Nigel Stepney regarding questions of suspected sabotage and espionage within the Ferrari team, it is not known if this new information is linked with that ongoing case or if this issue is a separate matter.
Speculation shall now surely begin regarding the identity of the suspended McLaren team senior member.
Formula 1 is one of the few remaining places where you can still engineer for excellence and you aren't limited (at least, forgetting about FIA regulations for a while).
If they are spying and still building sufficiently advanced different systems, then obviously they aren't considering Ferrari's developments to be as sophisticated as what they could turn out.

McLaren can say goodbye to 07.
if there is ANY link between the info and mclaren (the team), ferrari will protest and mclaren WILL be stripped of points at the end of the year, if not banned (3 races or more) during the remainder of this season. remember honda?
also, if there is a link, then it would be imposible that none of the top people at mclaren knew NOTHING about it. i dont think ron would approve/know, but witmarsh always seemed shady to me

as more is revealed, they WILL HAVE TO suspend others connected to the investigation...... surely they wont be able to keep up development without key figures in place in the middle of a championship campaign against a stronger team (ferraris wind tunel was broken since spain, they are back now
)im not even gonna start on next years car/campaign

IMO mclaren are professional enough to get away with it even if they are guilty.

Again, agree w/ others who believe that this will blow over; yeah, pain in the rear for McLaren, even Ferrari as accuser, but....end of the day....both teams will go on and some guys rep will be tainted (both the guys suspended by their respective teams).....
