Has anyone watched the F1 qualifying From Australia?

Looks like this year Ferrari has their work cut out for them. Those BAR Hondas are Fast this year. It is going to be an interesting year in F1.

As long as McLaren is faster than Williams, i'm happy .

In the morning practice both Hondas blew up after only a few laps. They may be fast, but will they hold together?

It's supposed to rain for qualifying today - could mix up the field quite a bit, which will make the race interesting to watch, at least.

Last year became such a snooze-fest, this year could be fun.

Cheers, BT

Speaking of morning practice, McLaren went 1-2 with Kimi out front.

The most action packed race of the 2003 season will be the one where Schumacher starts 10th on the grid.

Kimi was very very fast out there. He looks much more comfortable and confident in his second season w/McLaren. Lets hope it rubs off on DC

I agree about the Hondas. They still don't have the reliability. It didn't take long for them to blow up in practice, so they will be lucky to make it through the whole race.

And Kimi is looking very good. He should win some races this year, especially if this new qualifying means that MS won't always be on the front row. If Kimi can get in front of MS, he won't make it easy for Michael to get past him.

I'm going to miss qualifing...new digital cable isn't coming until Sat afternoon...in time for the race though!

So hard to tell what is going with fuel loads...but KImI is the man this year...I think David has an attitude problem that is going to hinder his success...looks like BAR has a good aero package...unless they were running on fumes...Michael is sandbagging....JPM may be as well...don't underestimate Rubens...he has one fast car and seems to really have his head on straight these days...how about Alonso..nice job...I really feel for Fisichella...wish he could get a better drive

It looks like they will be qualifying with full fuel loads because they are not allowed to add any fuel between qualifying and the race. Unless they want to qualify good and then have to pit early in the race.

Minardi didn't even bother to quality! What about the 107% rule? David Hobbs said that they are required to start 20 cars regardless.

Justin Wilson has explained that it was always the teams strategy to do what they did. ‘We knew we were going to be a the back of the grid anyway so we thought it was better to save the car and the tyres’ he said.

Talk about a crazy grid, aside from the usual Ferrari 1-2, the rest of the grid is totally out of whack. It will be a nice fight for the bottom podium spot tomorrow. I'm sure the Bernie isn't happy about the Ferrari 1-2.

And what's wrong with Kimi!

Puncture, left rear, likely at some point on his qualifying lap. He had all four wheels off (?)at Lauda(?).

As a viewer, I prefer the new qualifying format and the absence of the traffic factor. I just wonder what everyone will do tonight!

Yeah, I know, I was talking about his driving, UGH! He has been sloppy all weekend, infact he even crashed the car in the first Saturday practice session and he didn't get to practice in the second session, i'm sure that had something to do with it.

Observers thought that his car looked like it was running on a pretty full fuel load. His qualifying time was slower than he was running during practice.

I wonder if McLaren was trying the strategy of going with one quick car (Kimi) and one slow car with a fuller fuel load (DC). Unfortunately, Kimi went off during his qualifying lap.

I was thinking even before qualifying that maybe the grid order should be decided by an aggregate of the Friday and Saturday times. I think that's probably a better way to do it.

I agree, they should either take the best time out of the two qualifying sessions, or they should average both times together and have the grid based on that.
